Earl Grey. Hot. For two. Make it so!

NEWS – Every tea-drinking Star Trek: TNG-loving person you know wants one of these tea sets for Christmas!  I know I want one!  This teapot has the United Federation of Planets logo, while the cups, creamer, and sugar bowl all feature the Starfleet Command logo, and the saucers are marked “U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D”.  The shape of the vessels are all wonderfully futuristic, and they would be right at home on The Enterprise herself.

The set has a 20-oz teapot that is 7″ in diameter and 3″ tall.  The creamer and sugar bowl are each 3.5″ in diameter and 3″ tall; the creamer holds 7 ounces and the sugar bowl holds about 0.75 cup.  You’ll set a set of two cups and saucers, with each cup measuring 2.5″ diameter base and 3″ tall and holding 5 ounces, and each saucer is a 5.5″ square.

This beautiful Star Trek Captain’s Tea Set is available for $59.99 at ThinkGeek.

Adagio Teas simplifies making a pot of tea with the VelociTEA kettle

NEWS – I thought we had our tea-making process under control here, but Adagio Teas can streamline the process even more with their new VelociTEA kettle.  You just add water to the kettle, choose the perfect temperature for brewing the variety of tea, put the leaves in the dishwasher-safe brew basket, then press the button to get started.  VelociTEA will heat the water to the proper temperature, then steep the leaves for the proper amount of time.  The kettle can even hold the tea at the proper drinking temperature for up to an hour.  If you simply want hot water, the VelociTEA can heat that, too.

The VelociTEA will ship on December 15, 2018.  You can pre-order the kettle now for $99 and save $20.  Place your pre-order now at the Adagio Teas website.

This tea infuser isn’t cute, but it doesn’t require washing

NEWS – Over the years, The Gadgeteer has featured a lot of cute tea infusers for making a cup of tea.  The T-Sac Tea Filter isn’t cute like those infusers.  It’s a single-use, disposable paper bag that’s suitable for steeping all types of loose teas.  The bag is made of paper fibers that don’t interfere with brewing but prevent sediment and small leaves from passing through into your cup.  You can blend teas to make your own flavor, or you can add spices for brewing.  Fill the bag, fold over the top, steep, then toss the infuser bag.

T-Sac bags are made in Germany from all-natural, unbleached paper with no chemicals or artificial ingredients to taint the flavor of the tea. They are environmentally sensitive, completely biodegradable, and fully compostable.  A package of 100 1-cup T-Sac Tea Filter bags is $6.64 at Amazon.

Travel in style with your own tea service set

NEWS – If you like the act of making your tea as much as you enjoy drinking it, then you may like these little travel OMyTea Portable Travel Tea Sets.  There are two styles.  The porcelain set, like the image above, has a small pot, two mugs, a tea mat, and a bamboo tray, which all store neatly in the included padded, fitted travel bag.  This set is described as a 100% handmade Chinese / Japanese vintage kungfu gongfu tea set.  These are not necessarily sized for the typical American tea drinker, though.  The pot holds 6.2 ounces, and each mug holds 1.7 ounces.  The spout of these ceramic pots have small holes instead of a large opening, which acts as a strainer when pouring the tea.  The porcelain OMyTea Portable Travel Tea Sets are available in green, black, or white for $20.99.

The other style is a glass set, which has a borosilicate glass pot with a stainless infuser basket and four glass cups.  The set is completed with a bamboo tray, a tea mat, and a padded, fitted carrying case.  This pot holds 15 ounces, and each cup holds 4 ounces.  The cups and pot are dishwasher-safe, and the pot only can be used on the stovetop.  This set is $39.99.

Both sets are available at Amazon.

The toasTEA insulated tumbler from Adagio turns tea making upside down

NEWS – How do you travel with tea?  Brew it up at home and have one cup in a travel mug to last until you get home again?  Constantly stop in at coffee and tea shops to buy over-priced cups of tea?  Would you like a way to brew loose tea leaves right in your travel mug?  You can do just that with the toasTEA insulated travel tumbler from Adagio Teas.

The toasTEA’s double-walled stainless steel construction keeps your tea hot for hours.  (Of course, it can keep it cold for hours, too.)  It has a leak-proof sipping lid with a spring-loaded cover that operates one-handed.  A stainless infuser basket attaches to the bottom of the sipping lid.  To brew, you put hot water in the tumbler, tea leaves in the infuser, screw the infuser to the lid and the lid to the tumbler, then turn the toasTEA upside down.  When steeping is completed, turn the tumbler right-side up to prevent bitterness from over-brewing.  You may want to remove the infuser before drinking the tea, but it isn’t required.

The travel tumbler holds 17 ounces and is sized to fit most car cup holders.  Its double-walled construction keeps the exterior cool to the touch.  And all parts of the tumbler are dishwasher safe.  The toasTEA is available in blush, charcoal, and lemongrass.  Adagio sells the toasTEA for $29.00.  Amazon also offers the toasTEA in all three colors for the same price.
