The ZeroLemon Charging Station – Notable crowdfunding campaign

CROWDFUNDING NEWS – The ZeroLemon Charging Station from Lauco is a small charging station that can simultaneously charge two USB-C devices and two USB-A devices while wirelessly charging a phone that supports the Qi wireless-charging standard and an Apple Watch.  It has a 130 W for full-speed charging for all devices, 90 W for the USB-C, 12 W for USB-A, 10 W for the Qi wireless charger, and 3 W for the Apple Watch.  It comes in a nicely-packaged black box and includes a power cord and a padded bag for transporting it.

The top of the station has the Qi charger on the left and the Apple Watch charger on the right.  The front of the station has two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, and a power button.

Charging so many devices at once is bound to create some heat, so the sides and back of the station are a heatsink designed to dissipate that heat.  ZeroLemon’s goal is to keep the temperature under 105.8°F, though that sounds rather hot to me.

The top and sides of the station are covered in a black, rubbery coating that does a nice job keeping phones and watches from sliding off (as well as attracting lint and dust).

I tested ZeroLemon’s charger by simultaneously charging a brand new 2019 MacBook Pro (via USB-C), a 9.7 inch iPad and a GoPro camera (via USB-A), and an iPhone 8 (via Qi).  Though I left them all charging for 20 minutes, the charger was barely even warm to the touch.

Why do I like it?

I’m a big fan of decluttering the house.  Currently, I have separate chargers for my USB devices and my iPhone, so I like that I can combine these into one gadget.  I like the charger’s power that enables it to charge up to 6 devices at once.  I like it’s small, compact size (5.5 x 4 x 1.5 inches); it’s smaller than a paperback book.

Gotek’s Wireless Rollable Keyboard provides you with function and entertainment on the go!

CROWDFUNDING NEWS – As an iPad fan and as someone who uses my iPad every day and for hours each day, any accessory that will add to the functionality and enjoyment is worth it if it works well. I have several accessories like USC-C multi-port attachments and USB-C hubs, and also a few keyboard cases and stand-alone keyboards.

A couple of days ago ai came across the Wireless Rollable Keyboard with BT Speaker by Gotek. This device seems like it could be the perfect accessory and it is universal, durable, lightweight and compact. It is designed to be used with your mobile devices including your iPad, iPhone, Android and Windows-based tablets (including Amazon Fire), and all the devices can be connected via a single touch. It has a built-in stand that folds out to support smartphones and tablets up to 10″. While its current design specs do not seem to say that it can support the iPad Pro 12.9”, it looks like it just might.

The built-in Bluetooth speaker can be used together or separately from the keyboard and it also includes a built-in microphone that adds versatility including using it for phone calls. It is made from an aircraft-grade aluminum alloy that should keep it durable.

If you would like more information on this Wireless Rollable Keyboard with BT Speaker you can head over to the Indiegogo page and check it out. It can be purchased for $99, although it seems to be out-of-stock at the moment.

The ITALIA is a fountain pen that combines modern materials and engineering with classic Italian design. The ITALIA fountain pen has an old world nib, screw on cap, and refillable ink reservoir. This pen is available in either space-grade matte black aluminum, brass, or grade-5 titanium.

Why do I like it?

Based on its Kickstarter page, the ITALIA fountain pen is a well-crafted, old school writing instrument. Machined from high grade materials with a classic design and timeless function. I think this pen would make an excellent addition to any EDC gear or tech-bag.

Humism’s Kinetic Art Watches

What is it?

The Humism watches are timepieces that you wear on your wrist that not only tell time but provide a unique kaleidoscope-like living art on your wrist.

Why do I like it?

I like Humism watches because they are so unusual but they don’t require you to learn a special way to tell time. The hour and minute “hands” appear as dots on the outside of the dial.

But the cool thing about these watches is obviously the kinetic art pattern on the watch face that continuously moves as the seconds tick by.

The Sonny Portable Bidet

CROWDFUNDING NEWS – There are many options to consider when one desires to adopt a greener lifestyle, reduce their carbon footprint or otherwise help the environment. The most common approaches range from the simple act of recycling to more complicated actions such as installing solar-powered roof tiles. While not complicated or expensive, Sonny is one of the more, shall we say, offbeat ways of increasing your environmental friendliness: a portable, rechargeable bidet. Now, instead of littering the environment with loads of toilet paper after your morning constitutional, you can deploy Sonny and spray your way to personal cleanliness. You’ll be left feeling refreshingly clean, and with the knowledge that your “alone time” did not further contribute to the degradation of the planet.

This handheld bidet is both portable and rechargeable, perfect for home and travel. After charging it for a least one hour (provides around three weeks of use at two times a day), simply fill it with water and adjust the pressure to your liking. A full Sonny provides 40 seconds of continuous spray on standard pressure and 25 seconds on high. After you’ve sprayed yourself down, simply use a few sheets of toilet paper to dry yourself off.

The Sonny is made of aluminum and weighs just 0.5 lbs (the charging base adds 0.3 lbs). It stands 8.9 inches and is 1.6 inches wide. The business end, or nozzle cap, has four 0.4mm holes and is replaceable. In case you lose your grip on the Sonny you can remain calm as it is waterproof in up to a foot of water.

The Sonny is currently on Indiegogo with 17 days left in the campaign. It’s currently funded to 2001% of its goal with 4,064 backers. A $98 pledge will get you one silver or dusted champagne Sonny expected to ship in December of 2019. Other tiers, at higher price levels, will get you multiple Sonnys and/or a nozzle cleaning spray and post-bathroom refresher.
