Help WaterField Designs create your next favorite wallet

NEWS – If you’ve been a regular on The Gadgeteer for any length of time, you will know that I love trying new wallets and one of my all-time favorite wallet making companies is WaterField Designs. I carried their Catch wallet for many years before upgrading to their Finn Access wallet which is the overflow wallet that I carry with me every day to hold extra cards and cash. WaterField designs and makes their gear in San Francisco, CA and now you can help them design their next cool wallet by answering their survey. Your answers to their questions will give them insight and ideas to help them create another community-sourced design project like their Tech Folio and Tech Pocket. Get your ideas to them by filling out their survey and they will announce the resulting products this March as part of WaterField Wallet Month.

Jabra adds to their Elite series of headphones

NEWS – Jabra’s Elite Active 65t are my go to earbuds for nearly everything. They are with me 99% of the time, perfect for a lunchtime run, bus ride home from work, and everything in-between. That said, late last year Jabra released a business class version of their truly wireless earbuds, the Evolve 65t’s. According to Jabra, they are the world’s first UC-certified true wireless earbuds, have 4 microphones for a “professional” grade sound experience, up to 15 hours of battery life, and are engineered to passively block out ambient noise.

More recently, Jabra has just announced their Elite 85h over-the-ear headphones with active noise cancellation (ANC), 32 hours of battery life, hands-free Alexa and Google Assistant support, 40mm custom-engineered drivers, and SmartSound technology. According to Jabra, “SmartSound automatically analyzes your sound environment and applies your personalized sound settings, to give you the best calls and music experience, every time”. The Elite 85h’s are Jabra’s first ANC headphones and are meant to compete with the likes of Bose and Sony. They will be available in four colors and are due out in April for $299.

Fillit Pocket is a stick-on, reusable pocket for tablets, laptops or just about any smooth surface

NEWS – Does anyone else wish they had a way to carry or store just a small item or two on their oft-used devices?  Then have a look at Fillit Pocket.  It’s a reusable, adhesive-backed storage pocket that can be attached to laptops, tablets, or just about any flat, dust-free, lint-free, smooth surface to give you just a bit more storage space.  It can be attached to metal, glass, laminated wood, and many other surfaces and can accommodate items up to 7” x 3.5” x 1” and 1 lb in weight.  Toss in an external drive, some cables, pen, USB drive, or just about anything.  The reusable, semi-permanent adhesive can be washed to restore it to its original strength, so you can remove it and re-attach it to something else if you like.  Fillit Pocket is currently available at Amazon for $15.99, at eBay for $19.99 and at Newegg for $19.99.

PupAlert helps your very good boy tell you when he has to go potty

NEWS – I miss having a dog, but I don’t miss the task of potty training and housebreaking them. There are as many ways to housebreak a dog as there are dog breeds, but did you know that there’s an app for that? Well, to be honest, it’s an app that works with a sensor and a tag that goes on your dog’s collar.

A sensor installs near your front door and the tag goes on the dog’s collar. When your dog goes to the door, your phone will receive a notification so you can quickly go to the door to let him out. It helps prevent you from missing that short window when your pup is at the door and ready to go before he wanders somewhere else in the house to do his business. VAVA’s new 4K projector only needs 8.5 inches from a wall to project a 150 inch image

NEWS – Is it weird that as The Gadgeteer that I’ve not had a lot of experience with projectors? I’ve not had a lot of interest in them because until now they’ve needed space between the projector and the wall where you plan to project the image. At CES VAVA announced a 4K UHD Short Throw Laser Projector. What does that even mean? It means that this new projector only needs 8.5 inches of space between the projector and the wall to display a 150 inch (12.5 feet) high def image.

This projector uses ALDP 3.0 technology which the same as movie theater projectors and features Harman Kardon 30W speakers that support DTS and Dolby sound, Smart TV features that use the Android 7.0 which is built in, and Smart Eyes Protection which automatically turns down the brightness for eye safety when people get close to the screen.

The VAVA 4K UHD Short Throw Laser Projector will sell for $3,499 and will be available in late Q1 to early Q2. For more info visit VAVA.com
