FoldiMate aims to takes the drudgery out of folding laundry

NEWS – Are you the type that whips through your laundry chores, only to have fresh, clean clothes sit unfolded until the next time you wear them?  FoldiMate can fold an entire load of laundry in just five minutes, all automatically.

FoldiMate is a smallish refrigerator-sized device that will fold most of your laundry items into perfect, closet-ready piles.

According to their website:

FoldiMate will fold any type of shirt, blouse, or pants from age 6 to adult size XXL. It will also fold standard size towels and pillowcases. FoldiMate works best with average-sized clothing and laundry items. It currently won’t fold very small items like baby clothes, socks or undergarments, very large items such as sheets, or very bulky items such as hoodies.

You feed the items in one at a time. The unit continuously accepts items while folding the previously accepted item, allowing for non-stop folding. This results in their claimed five-minute runtime for an entire load of laundry of about 25 items.

Once the folding is done, a lighted drawer opens automatically, presenting you with your folded stack.

They claim that it will be relatively quiet – about the same as an average clothes dryer.

I hate folding clothes and hang most of my shirts and pants.  If you’re more of a folder, this might be for you, but, it comes at a price.  Right now, their targeted launch price is $980, and that’s not guaranteed. FoldiMate is an in-process project looking to launch late in 2019 in the US and then internationally. FoldiMate released a previous version in 2017. This new model is claimed to be a result of all the feedback they received and a major upgrade in the folding experience.

Strap this gauge on your wrist to tell time, instead of pressure

NEWS – Here’s a unique watch to add to your timepiece collection, it’s the PSI watch from Tokyoflash Japan, and it’s designed to look like mechanical pressure gauge. Available with a black or white dial and a black or silver stainless steel case, the PSI watch is a fun way to tell time because it has a needle that jumps to the hour, then two more jumps to show the minutes. Take a look at the video below to see how it works.

The watch charges via USB and a full charge will let you enjoy the watch for up to 2 months before you need to charge it again. You can buy the PSI watch for $189.00 from Tokyoflash Japan

RESCUE A6 Emergency 6-In-1 Tool is a convenient life saver

NEWS – I’m typically pretty skeptical about all-in-one tools designed for emergencies because I’ve found that in most emergencies I don’t have any tools near me that would do any good. Also, not many of these devices really catch my attention for car-related uses as most of my tools just float around the inside of my truck independent of where I may find them useful.

However, the RESCUE A6 seems like it would be in the perfect place for me to use it should I find myself in a vehicle-related incident: in the standard power plug/cigarette lighter found in every vehicle.

This multi-tool boasts the following features:

  • Charger – being able to be connected to the car power plug, it can charge mini-USB, USB-C and lightning connection devices
  • Seat Belt Cutter – allows you to cut the seat belt in case of a jam after an accident
  • Flashlight – 130-lumen flashlight in case of a nighttime emergency
  • Flashing Red Beacon – to alert people to your location
  • Glass Breaker – allows you to break out a window with one tap on the glass
  • Power Bank – if fully charged, will give 3-4 hours of charge time to your mobile phone

Overall, I think this would be highly useful and much more likely for me to plug in and keep in place, within reach in case something bad happened. These can be found on Amazon for $27.95.

Tactical Urban Carry System – Notable crowdfunding campaign

CROWDFUNDING NEWS – Companies are making bag and packs increasingly durable, versatile, and feature-loaded these days.  Plus, the military look is in.  Have a look at the Tactical Urban Carry System, currently in a Kickstarter campaign from AMABILIS.

What is it?

The Tactical Urban Carry System from AMABILIS consists of a backpack and a tote bag, both of which are military-influenced in style and appear to be made from durable materials and to be packed with features geared toward urban/commuter users.

Why do I like it?

First off, I like the style.  I dig the appearance of the “tacticool”-styled bags and packs.  As mentioned above, the system consists of a backpack and tote bag, both of which are made from “Military Grade Waterproof Tarpaulin,” main exterior and “SuperFabric Ceramic Armor Plates for Maximum Durability” along the bottom, and are “Fully Lined w/High-Viz Waterproof Nylon,” and include Velcro fields with laser-cut MOLLE webbing on the exterior to mount morale patches or other accessories. The flagship bag in the system is the UR-2 (short for Urban Responder) Rucksack, which features a “GI duffle” style top closure, a waterproof dry bag collar, quick-access lockable laptop compartment, a removable modular Velcro organization board and lots of other features.  The Tactical Tote features a magnetic top closure, interior organization pockets including a laptop compartment, a heavy-duty shoulder strap and many more features.

Where can I find more info?

The Tactical Urban Carry System campaign ends in just a few weeks on April 17, 2019, and has already surpassed its funding goal of $25,000. Pledge packages start at about $79 for a single Tactical Tote and increase from there depending on the options selected.  After the end of the campaign period, rewards are expected to start shipping in August 2019. Visit the Tactical Urban Carry System campaign site for more information or to become a backer.

Nisnas industries Vortex Shadow is a sling for urban adventurers

NEWS – I followed the first Kickstarter of these guys with their Kole flask back in August of 2015. Since then, they have released several other unique high-touch products (two wooden whiskey tumbler styles, and two vegan backpacks sized for women, among others). The one that I have always lusted after, however, is their Vortex Shadow.

In natural tan, this slim sling looks like Robin Hood’s quiver remade for an inner city walk. As the ad copy states, “The Vortex is designed to be a mid-range bag for a one-day urban adventure, the sweet-spot between longer trips and a commute. Perfect for a day in the city, to take your camera and essentials on an adventure where the city will take you.” With my recent descent into the world of sling bags of just this ilk, it’s looking more and more attractive. There’s a smaller one now, the Vortex Shield, but I think that won’t hold my regular sized iPad.

If you’re into leather (natural brown or black) and have just a bit more than all your pockets can hold, this may be the bag for you. They offer free shipping anywhere in the world, and ship in just a few days. Visit NiNSAS Industries for all the details.
