Know what’s coming in the mail BEFORE you open the mailbox.

A few months ago I read that the US Postal Service could send images of your physical mail to you via email before delivering the mail to your mailbox. One of the highlights of my day is checking my mailbox, so I was excited to sign up for the free service. Unfortunately, it wasn’t available in my area at the time I tried signing up.

I completely forgot all about it until last week when I received an email telling me that the service was now available in my area and that I could turn it on. I did so and the next morning I received my first Informed Delivery Daily Digest email with scanned images of the mail that would be waiting in the mailbox when I returned home that day.

Each daily email that you receive includes up to 10 black and white images. If there are more than 10 pieces of mail, you can log into the dashboard of your USPS account to see images of the other mail.

There’s even the option to alert the USPS when you don’t receive one of the pictured items.

The Informed Delivery service will include images of the mail addressed to any person at the main address and not just images for the person who signed up for the Informed Delivery service.

Note that only letter-sized mail images are included and not images of magazines, newspapers, and packages. Magazines and catalogs may be added at a later date though.

If you would like to sign up for Informed Delivery, you can do so at informeddelivery.usps.com

Forget about using a fishing pole, this RC boat will catch your next big one

Fisherman are well known for exaggerating the truth when they telling stories about their fishing adventures, so help make their next fishing story the most epic story ever with the Radio Ranger RC Fishing Boat from Fish Fun Co.

It might look like an ordinary radio remote controlled boat, but it can pull in fish up to 4lbs-5lbs!

The 34-inch long boat has a top speed of about 20 mph and features a 2.4 GHz radio that has a range of about 200-300 feet.

You can navigate the boat with the handheld controller and catch small fish with the included RC fishing pole. You can also use the boat to “drive” the fishing line from your pole out farther than you can cast the line and when a fish hits, the line disconnects so you reel him in.

The Radio Ranger RC Fishing Boat comes with batteries, extra propellers, fishing line, bobber, and a fishing hook. All you need is water and fish.

You can read more about the boat at rcfishingworld.com and you can order one for $99.95 from Amazon.

Combine a light with Alexa – what do you C?

GE and Amazon have developed the “C”, a lamp and clock that is Alexa enabled.  It has visual indicators for time on the ring where hands would go, a sleep enabled light with warm colors at night and cool colors in the morning, and tunable light controllable by voice commands for home and office environments.  Normal Alexa functions will be available so there is no need for a stand alone Echo device.

The C is expected to ship in September and will retail for $199.  You can receive a 20% by signing up for the Sol Early Adopter program.

Slingshots with laser beams, a smartwatch that talks to Alexa, Bluetooth headphones, and more – Weekly roundup

This week was interesting because I learned that people really like to read about slingshots. My post about the Assolar SS-12 multi-function super power stainless hunting laser slingshot was read over 3300 times in a few days. What does that mean? It means I need to find more slingshot related products to write about :o) But this week wasn’t all about slingshots, we wrote about a lot more products. To see a list of everything we posted this week, click through and enjoy!

Using a SureCan gas can means never overfilling your lawn mower again

How many times have you refilled the gas tank on your lawn mower, weed eater, blower, chainsaw, etc. only to have it overflow and make a mess? I can’t count the number of times that I’ve done that and ended up with gas on my shoes, hands, and the ground. The problem is that traditional gas cans are awkward. I found a possible solution – the SureCan.

The SureCan is a 2.2-gallon gasoline dispenser that is made here in the US of 6 layers of polyethylene to provide long lasting durability.

It that has been designed so that you don’t need to tilt it to pour gas. The SureCan has an 8.5-inch flexible rotating spout and a thumb trigger that starts and stops the flow of gas.

The trigger opens a vent so that the flow of gas is quick, without any glug glug glug issues of other gas cans.

SureCan makes cans to hold gas, diesel fuel, and kerosene. The gas version of the can is priced at $41.12 and is available from Amazon.
