There are only 49 days until Christmas. Have you started shopping yet?

I know that you just put away the Halloween decorations a few days ago and you haven’t even planned your Thanksgiving menu yet, but like it or not, the holiday shopping season is already upon us. Each year stores start talking about their Black Friday shopping deals earlier and earlier. To help you get the most out of your holiday gift shopping budget, we’ll be bringing you gift guides and shopping deals on a regular basis. Today I want to share some info on Best Buy’s top tech gifts for 2017.

According to researchers at Best Buy, 73% of techies like you and I prefer to buy gifts for ourselves. I’m on this list. If there’s something that I want, I will buy it for myself because I know exactly what I want and am savvy enough to find the best price for it. Also, Jeanne never buys me tech gifts because she has no clue what I’d need, want, or already have.

What about the most popular gifts based on gender and age? Best Buy’s research finds that Millennials and men under 50 want video games and computers more than any other gifts. While women under 50 are split between computers/tablets and smartphones, and both men and women over 50 want a new TV.

I’m in that over 50 female demographic and a new TV is almost always at the top of my new tech wish list. Though right now a new one isn’t a priority for me because I’m still happy with the 65″ Hisense TV which I reviewed two months ago.  This is a very nice TV and is currently only $850 through Best Buy.

If this info helps you with your gift buying decisions, you can head over to Best Buy and shop their TV Deals, Smartphone Deals, Video Game Deals, Computer Deals, and Tablet Deals. You can also see their full list of gift ideas by visiting Best Buy’s Top Tech Gifts for 2017 page.

Oops, I should have said find out if your dog is a descendant of a King Charles Spaniel. Orivet thinks that humans shouldn’t have all the fun finding out who their ancestors are. Now you can combine fidget spinning with stabbing things

Here’s another sign that fidget spinners are still a “thing”. It’s the Meteorite Fidget Spinner Pocket Knife. This one bladed hollow ground knife features a 2.4 inch locking blade made of Japanese steel.

The Fidget Spinner Pocket Knife has stainless steel bearing spinner built right into the aluminum scales.

You can pick one up for $60 directly through Meteorite’s site or head over to Amazon for a similar fidget spinner knife with a reverse Tanto style blade and a Titanium handle for the same price.

FYI: It should be obvious that you should not spin this knife with the blade open.

This 3D printed moon adds ambience to your room

This 3D-printed lamp gives new meaning to the term “moonlit room.”  My Metanoia says each of the moons have been printed in a 31-hour 3D printing process from 100% eco-friendly PLA from the USA.  The rigorous printing process results in a lamp that accurately portrays the moon’s cratered surface.

The 500mAh built-in rechargeable battery charges in 2 hours and provides 8-10 hours of use.  The LEDs are switchable from white light to yellowish light.  The brightness is adjustable from 0.1W to 1.5W,  so this is an accent light or nightlight.  The Wireless 3D Moon Lamp comes with a USB charging cable and a wooden display stand.  It’s available in sizes varying from 3.9″ for about $75 up to 8.7″ for about $180 from My Metanoia.

Apparently, the printing plans are available online, so you could print your own if you have a 3D printer.  I’ve also seen these moon lamps offered on eBay and Amazon in a variety of sizes for much lower prices.
