Maybe you’d rather have a Japanese toaster

NEWS – I wrote previously about Razer’s upcoming toaster, but if a venomous green, gaming-inspired toaster is not for you, then maybe you should take a look at Mitsubishi’s new bread oven.  It’s a toaster that looks like a waffle-maker and works by sealing in a single piece of bread and transferring heat through two very hot plates that can reach 500 degrees Fahrenheit.  The result is supposed to be the perfect piece of toast, both crunchy and soft.

I’ve never been to Japan, so I can only assume that Japanese really love their toast, because this gadget will retail for around $270; that’s 10 times the price of a normal toaster.  Do you love toast enough to shell out this kind of money for a toaster?

The MLB Hover Helmet magically levitates your favorite teams helmet in mid-air

NEWS – Are you a baseball fan? Imagine owning a piece of fan gear so unique you won’t believe your eyes, a levitating mini MLB helmet.

Hover Helmets takes a half-scale, detailed replica pro baseball batting helmet and suspends it in mid-air. It looks like magic, but it’s actually done using magnets. The helmet floats between two magnets within an LED lit stand. The LED lighting in the stand’s base illuminates the helmet as it floats. And it’s bright enough to be used as a night light.

A gentle tap sends the helmet spinning indefinitely. You have to see it for yourself, it’s pretty cool. Check out the video below.

Each mini replica MLB batting helmet comes complete with authentic details. Right down to the (tiny) padding inside.

The Hover Helmet is available in 14 of today’s top MLB teams, including the Houston Astros, New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers.

If the NFL is more you’re thing, Hover Helmets also levitates mini football helmets.

Hover Helmets sell for $119.95. For more info or to purchase head over to The Grommet.

Micro SD cards have finally reached 1TB

NEWS – Yep, you read that title correctly:  You can buy a micro SD card that’s 1 TB in size.  SanDisk recently revealed that you can buy the first ever 1 TB card directly from their online store or from Amazon.  As of today, it’s out of stock in both locations, but when it’s available, it will set you back a cool $450.  Read speeds are up to 160 MB/s and write 90 MB/s, assuming you have a gadget capable of reaching such impressive speeds.  Who would need (and being willing to pay) for such a card?  Drone operators come to mind as someone who might want to capture video for as long as possible before having to land and switch cards, or maybe an athlete with a GoPro catching a long ride.  In fact, anyone using a device in harsh conditions may want to check this out, as SanDisk says this Extreme card is “temperature proof, waterproof, shock proof, and x-ray proof.”  If you can think of any other great applications for such a large card, or if you can find a store where it’s in stock, let us know in the comments below.
