Send your fresh fruits and veggies to VeggiDome!

I don’t know how often I get some fresh scallions or broccoli, stick them in the fridge under all the other produce I have in there, and find them again after they are limp and inedible.  With the VeggiDome, I could store them on display in the kitchen, so I don’t forget them, in a container that will keep them fresher longer.

The VeggiDome glass tabletop produce saver is made of hand-blown borosilicate glass and has a stainless-steel colander base.  Your produce will stay as fresh and crisp as they would in the fridge.  The dome shape keeps moisture in, and the lid allows the natural ethylene gas responsible for produce ripening too quickly to escape.

Produce should be washed before putting them in the VeggiDome, and the colander base will keep them from sitting in water as they dry.  You can keep produce fresh and visible in the dome for up to six days.  However, there are instructions about what types of produce should go in the dome (see more at The Grommet).  The VeggiDome should be hand washed.  It measures 12″ x 9″ x 7.5″, so it’s big enough to hold a few days worth of produce.

The VeggiDome is $59.95 at The Grommet.

Nuheara boosts its IQBuds truly wireless earbuds to a personal level

When I reviewed the Nuheara IQbuds earbuds, I said that they sound better than many wireless ear buds and can help make speech more intelligible. While that’s still true, Nuheara has gone a step further and introduced IQbuds Boost adding what Nuheara calls “Ear ID,” a self-fit system with smartphone app that will clinically validate audiometric hearing and calibrate the IQbuds Boost specifically to your hearing. What is that, you ask? It simply means that since every ear is different and everyone hears differently, Ear ID will create a unique hearing profile by evaluating how you hear.

“It will provide a deeper, more sophisticated level of personalization, customization, and amplification,” states Nuheara.

As with the original IQBuds, the Boost version will enhance conversations—whether in intimate or noisy places, and allow you to listen to TV with more clarity at lower volumes. When outdoors or in a noisy environment, you can adjust the amount of the outside world you want to let into your digital audio listening. It’s quite an amazing experience when you first try it.

IQbuds Boost features include:

Low latency streaming for TV
Speech amplification
Dynamic noise control
Blended audio worlds
Superior sound for calls & music
Long battery life with fast charging
20 hours Bluetooth streaming
40 hours hearing processing
Water resistant/sweat proof
Tap touch control
iOS & Android compatible

The IQbuds Boost will be available in late April with the pre-order price of $449 US. After that, retail will be $499. Visit www.nuheara.com for information.

The B-Grip EVO Camera Belt Grip can handle the load

Within the photography industry, there are many companies that make similar products, making the choices that are right for you, very hard to make. Recently, I wrote a few news stories on photography gear belts, and I have continued to try out different makes and models for fit, finish, strength and efficiency.

The B-Grip EVO Camera Belt Grip is a very well made photography gear belt that includes a quick release system with a safety thumb lock, and an extension that is long enough and wide enough, to provide a stable support when you need to put the camera down, while it is still attached to the belt. The extension also has loop holes on the lower part so that it can be strapped around your leg creating even more stability. The quick release plate is stated to be strong enough to support your DSLR and even a small video camera, with a load capacity of a bit over 17lbs. This makes it very practical for most applications. One of the major differences with this belt is that the quick release plate and supporting structure are not made entirely of metal. B-Grip stands behind the product with a limited lifetime warranty.

If you would like to take a closer look at this belt you can do so at Amazon. It is available for purchase for $44.60.

Recall of powerbanks sold at Container Store

Last December, we told you about a 3-in-1 powerbank set at The Container Store.  I was in a store over the weekend, and I saw a sign saying that they were recalling the Grab & Go Powerbank Station.  The product has a possibility of the batteries overheating during charging, making it a burn and fire hazard.

If you bought one of these powerbanks, The Container Store says you should stop using them immediately and return them for a full refund.  Go to The Container Store website for information about how you can return the product.

The Axler Foldable Crane Slider has all the right moves

As I continue on my quest to find the most efficient and most portable slider that is also a great “bang for the buck”, I have been looking at the foldable Crane Slider from Axler.

The first feature that catches my attention is its small size and therefore portability. The next feature that is attractive is how it moves and maintains the subject in the frame, while managing steady and smooth straight slides and parabolic slides. All of the movement is performed by simply moving the rounded knob handle left or right.
The Crane Slider is designed for medium sized DSLR cameras, and mirrorless cameras, with the ability to support almost 5lbs. Once the slider is mounted to a tripod, it has a range of movement of 14 inches on each side for a total of 28 inches of movement. 1/4”-20 mounting screws are available for positioning the included aluminum ball head for both parabolic and linear movements. The bottom of the slider has a 3/8”-16 tripod mount threaded screw hole, so that it can be mounted directly to a tripod.

If you would like to learn more about this slider, you can head over to B&H Photo Video and check it out. It is available for purchase for $299.
