Flats are a thing of the past with GM and Michelin’s Uptis program

NEWS – Auto manufacturer General Motors and tire manufacturer Michelin have teamed up to push forward with Uptis (Unique Puncture-proof Tire System).

This tire uses a unique flexible structure to replace the air-filled chamber in traditional pneumatic tires.  This eliminates the possibility of a flat while providing similar rolling dynamics and impact resilience.

General Motors will test the Uptis tires on a fleet of electric Chevrolet Bolts with a target of 2024 to roll the tires out on passenger vehicles.

One of the main causes of tire wear is improper inflation, Uptis eliminates that and should last considerably longer, reducing waste. In addition, vehicles equipped with Uptis will not require a spare tire, reducing overall vehicle weight.

The SHIFTPOD lets you camp (glamp) in style and ease

NEWS – I’ve never been camping because bugs, no showers, no flushing toilets, dirt, bugs, and bugs. But if I were ever to cross that activity off my bucket list, I’d consider it if I had one of these ultracool SHIFTPODs to sleep in.

The SHIFTPOD looks like an Airstream camper and a tent had a baby. It is made of reflective material to keep the 100sq foot interior cool and features 2 doors with bug screens and 6 windows with bug screens. So yay, no bugs!

The most insane thing about the SHIFTPOD is that you can set it up in a minute. To that, I say what?! No way. Check out this video:

The only downside to the SHIFTPOD is that it’s not exactly designed for the backpacker because it’s heavy at 65lbs. You won’t want to hike with it. But if you’re driving to a campsite, you’ll be the envy of all your friends.

The SHIFTPOD sells for $1299 from Advancedsheltersystemsinc.com

NEWS – Campers, hikers, and other outdoor warriors know that it’s important to have the basic survival skills and gear when they are on their adventures. Water, food, shelter, and fire are probably the four main things you need. That’s where the Pull Start Fire Pull-String Fire Starter kit from Huckleberry will both save and FRY your bacon! Just pull out one of these bad boys, stick it in the center of your wood teepee, yank the string, and in 30 minutes you’ll have a blazing fire without needing matches or a lighter, even if you’re in 200+ MPH winds or a tropical storm.

The Pull Start Fire Pull-String Fire Starter kit comes in a pack of 3 starters and is priced at $18 from Huckleberry.com or Amazon.

NEWS – For those days when you need to carry more items than you can comfortably fit in your pockets, consider a small bag like Hardgraft’s Valet Pack. This gorgeous leather bag is obviously not going to hold your laptop. But that’s not what it’s been designed to do. IKEA wants to transport your living room to the “Upside Down” with the Real Life Series

NEWS – I’m a huge fan of the Netflix series “Stranger Things” so I was intrigued when I saw that IKEA had recreated the Byers family’s iconic living room ahead of  Season 3’s July 4th return. Not only did they recreate the room as part of the IKEA Real Life Series, but you can buy each piece to put in your very own house.

They have everything you need to bring the room to life, from the infamous letter wall, Christmas lights, chairs and coffee table. Altogether there are 21 different pieces, and IKEA says the cost is approximately $1,441.54.

IKEA says this about the Real Life Series, “We brought to life the iconic living rooms of the most beloved families of all times, through tons of furniture combinations in lots of different styles and sizes – and at affordable prices.” There are two other iconic living rooms that you can recreate from “The Simpsons” and “Friends”.

Just imagine sitting in the Byers living room and watching what is sure to be the television event of the summer.

For more info head over to IKEA.
