Walk more upright with the Campbell Posture Cane

NEWS – A couple of years ago, I underwent two total knee replacements in a four month period.  During each recovery, I first used a walker for a couple of weeks, then I switched to a cane for longer-term use.  The cane provided me with some extra stability as I walked, especially when going up stairs or stepping on/off curbs, but  it was uncomfortable to use.  Although my cane was adjustable for my height, it never seemed to be the right length for me.  When the physical therapist adjusted it for me, it seemed too short, and I felt like I was bending too far over while using it.  Walking for a while meant my neck was tired because I had to hold my head at a funny angle to see where I was going.  And I felt like my center of gravity was somewhere out in front of me because of the way I was hunched over.

If I had a Campbell Posture Cane back then, I think I would have felt more comfortable and confident using a cane.  The Campbell cane allows you to stand more upright, so you can see where you’re going.  My arm and shoulder wouldn’t have gotten so tired because I wouldn’t have been hunched over and leaning too much weight on wrist and shoulder joints that were never meant to be used that way.  You use the Campbell cane while standing upright in a more natural position, and you support your weight more naturally, too.

The Campbell Posture Cane is height adjustable to customize the fit for you.  The handle means you hold the cane more like a ski pole, which provides support and stability without putting pressure on your wrist and shoulder.  And the stability tip has texture for slip-resistant traction, and it’s big enough to improve your stability and even stand on its own so you don’t have to find a place to lay the cane when you sit down.  The cane helps you navigate sidewalks, stairs, and uneven terrain as easily as you can navigate your home’s floors.

The Campbell Posture Cane is $39.99 at their website.

Add a shelf to your wall’s power outlets

NEWS – The power outlets in both of our bathrooms are by the door, and they are too far away from the sink counter for me to use the outlets with my electric toothbrush.  I’ve been looking for a wall shelf, but I really don’t want to start screwing shelves into my ceramic tile walls.  One of these IdeaWorks Wall Outlet Organizers could be the perfect solution for bathrooms like mine.

The shelf works with standard outlet covers 2.75‘’ X 4.5 ‘’.  No extra hardware is needed; you just use the screws already provided for the outlet cover.  The shelf itself is 9″ wide, and it can hold up to 5 pounds.  There are two cord wraps under the shelf to keep excess cord length neatly out of the way.

It’s perfect in the bathroom for an electric toothbrush, razor, or a little Bluetooth speaker.  You can also use the outlet shelves in the kitchen or bedroom for a little charging station for phones.  I just wish they made one that would work with a double outlet cover, like the ones in my bathrooms.  The IdeaWorks Wall Outlet Organizer is $12.37 at Amazon.

Protect your personal items in a portable travel safe

NEWS – Where do you keep your keys and wallet while you’re on the beach?  Under your towel or stuffed up under your chair isn’t safe, because they could be quickly grabbed by someone walking by if you’re distracted.  It’s better to put your stuff in a FlexSafe portable travel safe.  Attach the FlexSafe to a rib of your umbrella or a bar of your chair, and your items will be safe from opportunistic thieves.

This portable lockbox measures 10” x 6” x 3” and weighs 10oz.  Construction includes five layers of protection, including an RFID-blocking layer to prevent someone reading your cards or passport as they pass by and an ultra slash-resistant layer to prevent someone from cutting the bag open to steal the contents.  And it’s water-resistant to protect your gear from pool splashes.

The front  locks with a re-programmable lock.  Open the lock, and you’ll see that the contents are further protected with a zipper.  Place your wallet, keys, jewelry, camera, and other small items inside, zip it up, then wrap the front flap around a stationary bar of your lounge chair, wheel chair, umbrella, or other fixed object.  You can even use it as a hotel room safe by locking it around the closet bar.  Once the front lock is closed, your bag can’t be easily snatched up by a passerby.

The FlexSafe is available in black, aqua blue, navy blue, lavender, or digi camo.  The black bag is $59.95, while colors are $69.95.  The FlexSafe can be purchased at the AquaVault website.

The Trident Odyssey Valet is a luxury charging pedestal for Apple Watch

NEWS – Although the Trident Odyssey Valet looks like a protective display case for the Apple Watch, it’s more than that.  The clear plastic top does keep dust off your Watch, but the base is a charging stand.  And it’s powered by an internal battery to keep your Watch charged even when you’re away from a power source.

The charging cable for the Watch hides away in the base to keep everything looking neat.  The internal 2600mAh lithium battery can charge your Watch multiple times, or you can charge both a Watch and an iPhone simultaneously.  The LEDs on the front of the pedestal displays charging status for the battery.  The clear top holds your iPhone while it charges

Amazon has the Trident Odyssey Valet in black ($13.04), cognac ($13.74), or white (if you’re willing to pay the $41.91 premium price).
