Journey far and wide with the new Stack Pack from Topo Design’s Spring Collection

“Classic Modern Mountain” is how Topo Designs describes their distinctive style. This Colorado-based maker of outdoor gear & apparel is known for products that feature simple functional design, exceptional craftsmanship, and distinctive color schemes. The new Stack Pack offers flexible organization for work, travel, and hiking expeditions.

The two-chamber design of the Stack Pack offers plenty of options to sort out your gear. At 11″ by 17″, the generous main compartment includes a built-in laptop sleeve. The front compartment panel unzips on three sides, allowing full access to multiple mesh organizer pockets for your quick-access items. Compression straps, two water bottle side pockets, a pair of gear loops, and an external bungee rig provide plenty of options for mission-specific extras. As with all Topo products, you also have an assortment of funky color schemes to choose from that will stand out in a crowd. The overall size of the bag checks in at about 17 liters, which seems just about right for a day trips, travel carry-on, or the work commute.

All of Topo Designs products are handmade in an environmentally-friendly facility in Colorado. I can attest to the quality and durability of their gear from personal experience (I own a Rover Pack). Check out the $98 Stack Pack and the whole Spring Collection at Topo Designs web site.

Prepare yourself, Adventurer: The Bag of Holding from ThinkGeek has leveled up with a brand new design!

You’ve got to love ThinkGeek. There’s no better place to find whimsical gadgets, gear, and collectibles related to all of your nerdy passions (gaming, sci-fi, fantasy, comics, etc.). They also design some pretty clever products. With the new iteration of The Bag of Holding, ThinkGeek seeks to improve on a messenger that has been very popular with both gamers and non-gamers alike.

For those who don’t know, the name “Bag of Holding” is an homage to a magical item from the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game that has an infinite capacity to carry your stuff on your dungeon adventures. While ThinkGeek does not claim that the new Bag of Holding is actually “magical,” it does have an enormous capacity at 16.5″ wide by 15″ tall by 7″ deep. The bag features multiple cavernous compartments and organizational pockets to store all of your stuff, including a huge padded laptop compartment. Hardware, handles, and zippers have been upgraded from the old model, and key stress points have been reinforced to handle heavier loads. The inside of the bag has an easter egg for the hardcore fantasy fans: the printed lining features hand-drawn gems, dice, shields, potions, and swords to lift your spirits as you go off to crawl dungeons and defeat monsters.

While the Bag of Holding does cater towards genre fans, the bag has gained popularity among non-gamers looking for a big, economical messenger bag ($50) that can accommodate large laptops and a ton of stuff. It also gets some great reviews. Check it out at ThinkGeek.com!

Moleskine’s new ID Collection includes bags for your EDC items

If you’re a Gadgeteer, you most likely have some favorite EDC (Every Day Carry) items that you carry with you on a regular basis. That either means you have huge pockets, or you use a gear bag like I do. Trying to find the holy grail of gear bags is a quest that a lot of us never complete. Or maybe it’s a quest that we don’t want to complete because cool bags are as enticing as new gadgets.

To make your gear bag quest easier or even harder, Moleskine has announced the new ID Collection of bags like the ID Backpack shown above.

The ID Backpack is available in two sizes that can hold either a 13″ or 15″ laptop along with accessories and additional gear.

The bags are made of water-resistant nylon and coated canvas, and feature magnetic closures instead of velcro.

If backpacks aren’t your style of gear bag, Moleskine’s new collection also includes messenger bags, briefcase-style bags, tote bags and more.

The bags are available in a few different colors and each include pen and pencil slots as well as space to carry a Moleskine journal.

Prices range from $79 up to $!69 depending on the style and size. You can read more about Moleskine’s ID Collection at moleskine.com.

The new Canvas Collection from Brothers Leather Supply offers a modern take on a classic design

Founded in 2014, Brothers Leather Supply has been steadily building a reputation around their affordable leather products and distinctive urban/rugged style. The latest offering from the Grand Rapids, Michigan studio serves up a whole new look (and materials) with the Canvas Collection.

The Canvas Collection sports a modern look while paying homage to heritage design elements. The streamlined, squared designs in the Motown and Windy City Backpacks cater to the daily carry needs of the commuter with ample padded interior pockets for laptops, tablets, and electronic accessories. Breathable mesh backs, padded backpack straps, a top carry handle, and YKK zippers add modern functionality to the designs.

The Big Easy Duffle Bag boasts a similar streamlined design aesthetic that looks to be at home in the gym or on the road.

I like the unique style of this collection. The color options (solid gray, black, and olive) will look great in both business-casual offices and travel adventures. Leather accents and metal hardware highlight the overall design and look really sharp across all the color combinations. I’m also digging how Brothers has turned the classic leather lash tab into a distinctive design element… a clever little highlight that shows an attention to detail.

The Canvas Collection offerings are priced between $195 and $215, a nice price for hand-crafted, well-designed bags. Go check them out at Brothers Leather Supply.
