Polar’s new A370 fitness tracker has 24/7 continuous heart rate tracking

Tracking your steps and other physical activity is a great way to hold yourself accountable for your health goals, but keeping track of your heart rate throughout the day is a better measure of how well you’re progressing towards those goals. Polar’s new A370 fitness band has that feature and more.

The Polar A370 tracks all the usual metrics like steps, distance, and calories burned, but it also has advanced sleep tracking.

Polar’s advanced sleep tracking features help you learn more about your sleep patterns and how they can effect your health.

When you combine all of the A370’s activity and sleep tracking reports through the Polar app on your mobile device, it will help you reach your fitness goals that much faster.

The Polar A370 is available for pre-order now and is priced at $179. It will ship in early June. For more info visit polar.com

Garmin’s new vivosmart 3 activity tracker counts steps and exercise reps

In a sea of wearable fitness trackers, it’s tough to stand out when most of them can track steps, heart rate, and sleep. But Garmin has added a new trick to their latest vivosmart 3 fitness tracker. It can count strength training exercise reps and sets.

Whether you’re doing curls with free weights or body weight exercises, each rep is counted when the arm wearing the device returns to the starting position.

The vivosmart pairs with an iOS or Android device to provide additional features like notifications from texts and calls, weather info, music controls, find my device, and more.

Garmin’s vivosmart 3 is available in black or purple and is priced at $139.99. You can read more about it at garmin.com and order one from Amazon.

Misfit introduces new Flare fitness tracker

A few weeks ago I told you about Misfit’s Vapor smartwatch that is due this summer. Now Misfit has just announced another fitness device on the opposite end of their pricing spectrum. It’s the Misfit Flare, their new entry level wearable that tracks activity and sleep. Priced at $59.99, the Flare features a capacitive touch sensor, and a single status LED that shows activity progress.

The Flare tracker runs on a CR1632 coin cell battery that will power the tracker for up to 4 months. It’s also swim proof up to 50 meters and the one-piece molded design comes in any color you like as long as that color is black.

It’s not clear how the single LED helps provide tracking info, but it’s interesting to note that this wearable does not double as a watch.

The Misfit Flare is available now for $59.99 through misfit.com

Android Wear 2.0 Vapor smartwatch coming from Misfit this summer

We’ve been covering Misfit fitness tracking wearable devices since the original Misfit Shine that I reviewed back in 2013. Misfit trackers have evolved since the Shine and in the next few months, we’ll be seeing a brand new device from Misfit that looks like their most ambitious activity tracking wearable so far. The Misfit Vapor is a true touchscreen smartwatch powered by the Android Wear 2.0 operating system.

First announced at CES 2017 in January, the Vapor was called the best smartwatch and best fitness gadget of 2017.

The Vapor smartwatch has a lot going for it. It has a 1.39” full round 326 PPI AMOLED display, is water resistant up to 50 meters, so you can swim and shower with it. It has a built-in optical heart rate monitor, and GPS so you won’t need to carry your phone with you when you’re out on a run or walk.

Don’t think that the Vapor is all workout and no play. because it also can be used as a stand-alone music player and you can install hundreds of Android Wear apps on the watch to really make it your own.

Priced at $199, the Misfit Vapor will be compatible with phones running Android 4.3 or iOS 9 or higher. For more details visit Misfit’s Vapor page and be sure to sign up to get notified as soon as they become available this summer.
