Bellroy has already slimmed down our wallets. Now they slim down our keychains!

We’ve seen what seems like dozens of different key chain solutions here on The Gadgeteer.  Our current find, the Bellroy Key Cover, looks like a little leather taco to enfold your keys to keep them away from scratchable electronics they share space with.  Bellroy has mastered the art of designing slim-profile wallets that carry all your stuff in a slim package, and now they have designed a key case that’s worthy of the Bellroy name.  The Key Cover is 1.7″ x 3.1″ closed; it has a magnetic closure to keep it closed and the keys corralled inside.  Outside is a leather loop to attach a car fob; the interior has a metal and elastic band that inserts through the holes on the top of the keys.  As always, Bellroy says their leathers are “premium hides tanned under gold-rated Leather Working Group environmental protocols, then dyed through so they age gracefully.”

The standard size Key Cover holds 2-4 keys; the Plus size is a little longer (3.6″) and has an extra internal loop to hold 2-4 more keys.  The Key Cover is $44.95; the Plus is $49.95.  Both sizes are available in caramel, black, blue steel, or teal leathers from Bellroy.

The Cipher Bandana from Colter Co shows you how to get your message across

The Gadgeteer has shown you a series of bandanas from Colter Co. over the years that have taught you fly-tying, nautical and survival knots tying, helped you amuse yourself during downtime in the outdoors with a game board bandana, and even helped you find your place in the universe with a glow-in-the-dark star chart.  Now Colter Co. has a Cipher Bandana that will help you communicate your location or your message to others using four modes of communication: phonetic code, morse code, semaphore, sign language, and even how to use a signal mirror.  Like other Colter Co. bandanas, the Cipher is 22″ X 22″ and made of 100% machine-washable cotton.  The Colter Co. Cipher Bandana is available from Amazon for $14.00 plus $4.54 shipping.

Swiss+Tech Mega-Max folding multi-tool puts 15 tools in your palm

The Swiss+Tech Mega-Max is a multi-tool with an interesting design. It has a rectangular stainless steel frame that holds 15 tools that include screwdrivers, hex drivers, wrenches and more (see the full list after the break).

  1. LED Flashlight
  2. #2 Flat Screwdriver
  3. #2 Phillips Screwdriver
  4. 2mm Hex Driver
  5. 2.5mm Hex Driver
  6. 3mm Hex Driver
  7. 4mm Hex Driver
  8. 5mm Hex Driver
  9. 6mm Hex Driver
  10. 8mm Hex Driver
  11. T25 Star Driver
  12. English Wrench Set (1/8, 3/16, 5/16, 3/8, ¼)
  13. Metric Wrench Set (4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, 8mm, 9mm)
  14. Nail Puller
  15. Pry Bar

The fact that this multi-tool offers so many tools is nice, but I’m not convinced that the tools would be comfortable to use because the “handle” is wide and flat. If you have to use any real torque, I think the edges would dig into the palm of your hand. I’m just speculating though.

You can read more about the Mega-Max by visiting Swiss+Tech and you can order one from Amazon for $15.56.

Grovemade adds aluminum key ring to their lineup

Grovemade started out with bamboo and wood iPhone cases about seven years ago but since then, they have expanded their offerings to include new products like this new key ring made from a solid block of anodized aluminium.

Unlike some carabiners that can pinch your fingers, the Grovemade key ring features a unique loop design that allows you to easily hang it from a belt loop.

This US made lightweight but strong key ring also has a built-in bottle cap lifter so you can pop the top on a cold one.

The Grovemade aluminum key ring is priced at $29 and if aluminum isn’t your thing, you can also buy the key ring in steel, brass or titanium for $39, $59, and $79. The price for all of these key rings is pretty spendy, but if you like the design and style, head over to grovemade.com for more info.

Be the envy of your EDC collecting buddies with this folding coin knife that has a Damascus steel blade

I’m an EDC fanatic and am always on the lookout for cool but useful gear that I can carry with me on a daily basis. But I don’t like just any gear. My favorite EDC products have to be small but awesome. The Folding Coin Knife from BucknBear ticks both of those boxes. This coin-sized pocket knife features a Damascus steel blade. What is Damasus steel?

Damascus steel was a type of steel used for manufacturing sword blades in the Near East made with wootz steel. These swords are characterized by distinctive patterns of banding and mottling reminiscent of flowing water.

The Folding Coin Knife is small enough to fit in the coin pocket of your jeans, attach it to your keychain, or wear it around your neck. This particular folding coin knife sells for $49 at Huckleberry. But on a whim, I did a search for “folding coin knife” on Amazon and found a bunch of similarly styled coin knives priced much lower. Some under $10. Of course the ones on Amazon don’t have a Damascus steel blade, but they still look cool.
