Winter is coming. Arm yourself!

They do say that the pen is mightier than the sword, so these beautiful Montegrappa pens inspired by HBO’s Game of Thrones should prepare you to face the White Walkers.  The pens are available in ballpoint, rollerball, or fountain pen.  They are the second edition of Montegrappa pens inspired by the show, and these represent the primary noble houses of Westeros, plus a fifth pen for Westeros itself.

The pens have resin bodies and are accented with precious metals.  The pocket clip takes the form of the animal associated with the family; for example, the Stark pen has a direwolf clip.  The ballpoints deploy with a twist, while the fountain and rollerball pens have a twist cap.

I found these pens at Levenger.  They offer the ballpoints for $295 each or a set of four for $944.  The rollerballs are $325 each or a set of four for $1040.  The fountain pens are $350 each or a set of four for $1120.  Pens can also be purchased directly from Montegrappa.

The ChargeWrite is a pen and stylus with a built-in backup battery

As a self-confessed gadget geek, I am always looking for the next gadget that provides convenience with some cool technology built in. I am also attracted to functional gadgets that combine things for everyday use in a practical form.

Today I was browsing the internet and came across a pen called the Chargewrite. In my opinion, this pen is really cool. It combines the functionality of an everyday need for the purposes of charging, data storage, and writing. It includes a built-in battery and a universal Smartphone tip that accommodates either a lightning port or a Micro USB port so that you have one charging tip for all of your devices and without the need for an adapter. It is also a ballpoint pen, a screen cleaner, and a stylus. In addition, there is an option for an included 16GB flash drive.

If you would like to purchase this cool Chargewrite pen, you can pick one up on the Shopbkey website for $29 for the version that has a 1000Mah battery but no built-in flash drive, or $39 for the model with a 650Mah battery and a 16GB flash drive.

BIC pen with 3 colors of ink pens and a mechanical pencil built in

I love writing with BIC pens – the ink flows smoothly and evenly, and their blue ink is my favorite.  There’s only one problem.  The normal, clear-body pens are too thin for me to hold comfortably.  When I discovered those thick barrel 4-color multi-pens from BIC, I was in love.  They were comfortable to hold, and they had four colors in one convenient package.  They really appealed to the office-supply geek in me.  What could be better?  Well, including a mechanical pencil is apparently the one thing that could make those BICs even better.

The BIC 4-Color 3+1 Ball Pen and Pencil has the same thick barrel I was acquainted with, but the barrel is white and silver instead of white and blue.  You’ll still find the black, red, and blue pens, but the green has been replaced with a mechanical pencil.  The pens are medium point (1.0mm), and the pencil lead is 0.7mm #2 HB graphite.  The little plastic loop on top has been replaced with a clicker to advance the lead; it’s topped with an eraser for the pencil.  Twelve leads and five erasers are included with the purchase.  The BIC 4-Color 3+1 Ball Pen and Pencil is $2.87 at Amazon.  It ships for free with a $25.00 order.

You’ll also find 4-color Ball Pen Refills at Amazon for $26.49 with 12 each of the black, blue, red, and green inks.

These Justice League of America pens are mightier than the sword

Are you feeling inspired by all these superhero movies currently in theaters?  Are you wanting to feel a little heroic in your daily life?  Well, short of developing superpowers or becoming a billionaire vigilante, you’re not going to be joining the Justice League yourself.  Perhaps you can feel a little super just by using this pen set inspired by the Justice League.

Caran d’Ache has, for more than a hundred years, been creating fine writing instruments.  This set of pens has all the quality the company is known for, combined with the style of three of DC’s finest heroes.  The set of pens are inspired by Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman.

Each pen has gold-plating and cutter-inscribed decorative elements, pen caps with the Caran d’Ache hexagon logo, and each has engraved Swiss Made and Caran d’Ache labels.  Levenger describes each pen:

  • Wonder Woman: The pattern of Wonder Woman’s bracelet is cutter-engraved on the first part of the cap, with a raw, unpolished metallic finish to recall her costume. The second part of the cap is cutter-engraved and coated with translucent, burgundy lacquer to represent the metallic reflections of Wonder Woman’s bustier. On the bottom of the barrel, the pattern of her boots is cutter-engraved in a highly graphic design. There are also raw metallic finished recalling the look of her boots. The pink gold-plated ring is laser-engraved with the Swiss Made and Caran d’Ache labels.
  • Batman: The barrel and cap are cutter-engraved with a chevron pattern, coated in translucent black lacquer with a satin finish. The ends of the cap and body are smooth and coated in black satin-finish lacquer. The pen ring is engraved with the Swiss Made and Caran d’Ache labels.
  • Superman: The metallic appearance and scaly texture of the costume are reinterpreted by different cutter-engraved elements. The barrel and cap are engraved and coated in dense blue satin-finish lacquer. The cap recalls Superman’s torso and the barrel of the pen are his legs. The lower part of the barrel is coated in dark red lacquer and boasts a new engraving inspired by his boots. The gold-plated pen ring is laser-engraved with the Swiss Made and Caran d’Ache labels.

There are two sets available, each set for the serious collector with Bruce Wayne-deep pockets.  The rollerball set of three Caran d’Ache Justice League Trilogy pens in a presentation box is $3750.00.  The fountain pen set is $5550.00.  Learn more at Levenger.
