Impossible Burger 2.0 wows ’em at CES

NEWS – Most folks have heard about the Impossible Burger from Impossible Foods.  It is a burger patty made entirely from plants. 100% vegan with absolutely no animal products, Impossible Burger has gained fans searching for a meat substitute that is meat-like.  But, reviews, while good, were mixed.  Enter Impossible Burger 2.0.

The new formulation won several awards at CES 2019 and really seems to have surprised the critics with its taste and texture.  Fans claim that it is not just a good vegan burger – it is a really good burger of any kind.  That’s a pretty bold statement.

Coming in at 240 calories for a four ounce patty, it compares favorably to the caloric content of a beef patty, which can exceed 300 calories. The big bonus is fat content.  The Impossible Burger has only 14 grams of fat compared to a typical beef patty with twice that at 28 grams of fat.

The original Impossible Burger is available in thousands of restaurants across the USA today. Impossible Burger 2.0 is expected to be phased in at restaurants starting in March 2019 and will be available direct to consumers in grocery stores later in 2019.

For more information, visit Impossible Foods’ Impossible Burger 2.0 website.

Nomad launches Titanium Band for Apple Watch

NEWS – I have a few Nomad products and have been continually impressed with the quality and attention to detail of their products.

This morning I had a fresh new email from them about their new titanium watch band for the Apple Watch.

I’ve always loved titanium (my wedding ring is titanium) and very excited to see how this band changes the feel of the Apple Watch I wear daily.

It has 20 links to fine tune the fit and a slim clasp to keep the profile low. It’s available now in Black or Silver for $179.

For more information or to purchase, head on over to Nomad.

Focal focuses on 2019 with three new high-end audio products

NEWS – Things are not slowing down for Focal, the French high fidelity audio company. They’ve just released three new products for 2019—and it’s only February!

Stellia is a high-end, closed-back headphone that can compete with the best loudspeakers. Stellia integrates a new generation of speaker drivers, capable of working at low sound levels while offering an extensive frequency response (5Hz- 40kHz). Among many technologies incorporated in Stellia are frameless 100% copper voice coil, ‘M’-shaped pure Beryllium dome and more. Focal has strictly overseen every stage in Stellia’s creation, from the development process to industrialization, even developing a specific robot to meet manufacturing requirements. Stellia borrows comfort features from Focal’s flagship Utopia headphone. Each Stellia component has been developed with optimal acoustics in mind.

Stellia is presented in an imitation leather pack, with a matching cognac and mocha color scheme that houses two high-quality cables —10 1/8 feet for home use and 3 3/8 feet for connecting to a portable audiophile player. Stellia is available now from Focal and Amazon, starting at $3,000.

Next is Arche, a combination headphone amplifier/digital audio converter (DAC). Arche was developed by Micromega for Focal. It combines a DAC as well as two class-A amplifiers designed especially for headphones. Arche offers presets for every Focal headphone giving music lovers an all-in-one solution for their headphones.

Two digital-analog balanced converters take care of both left and right channels. Each converter has a dedicated power supply. These converters have an extended operating range of 768kHz – 32bits to ensure pure reproduction of high-resolution audio. Arche comes with an aluminum headphone mount, inspired by the Focal logo, making storing headphones easy. The rear panel is dedicated to the connection via RCA, USB, toslink and coaxial inputs. Arche can also be used as a DAC to drive high-fidelity loudspeakers. Arche is available now from Focal and Amazon, starting at $2,500.

On the affordable end of the audio spectrum, Focal has released Sphear Wireless, for those who want freedom of movement. As the wireless evolution of Sphear, these new in-ear headphones provide tonal balance with plenty of dynamics. The bass-reflex system reproduces a controlled and realistic bass. Sphear Wireless has aptX compatible Bluetooth without the hassle of wires.

Sphear Wireless retains the classic Focal Sphear design for zero discomfort. It has two listening modes: Neutral and Loudness. Thanks to an ergonomic 3-button remote control, it’s easy to customize the buttons for any situation. There are two types of tips available: silicone or memory foam. In addition to black, Sphear Wireless is also available in blue, olive and purple. Sphear Wireless is available now from Focal and Amazon, starting at $129.

Logitech’s G935 is a wireless headset for serious gamers

NEWS – Though Logitech may be best-known for making general-purpose mice and keyboards, they recently announced a couple of products designed for hardcore video gamers.  The G935 is a top-of-the-line wireless gaming headset, and the G635 is its younger brother, a wired version of the G935.  This is the first headset that feature’s Logitech’s exclusive Pro-G 50mm Audio driver, which is designed to deliver “deep bass and a round sound profile for highly cinematic audio.”  It also features 2.0 surround sound, which simulates the 3D environments found in video games.

This headset is no mere headset.  Gamers love lights, and the G935 features Logitech’s LIGHTSYNC technology, which provides dynamic illumination that synchronizes to your games, videos, and music.  The light comes from an LED strip along the back of each headset and an iconic “G” symbol on each side.

The G935 has a 12-hour battery (without the lighting), an extendable, built-in microphone, leatherette earpads, and an on-ear volume control.  It uses 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi to connect to a USB dongle and has an indoor range of 15 meters.  The G635 has all the same features as the G935, sans the wireless capability.

You can pre-order Logitech’s new headsets directly from their online store or Amazon for $169.99 (wireless) or $139.99 (wired).
