Carved wallets are as flexible as leather – but made of wood!

Carved makes wallets like you’ve probably never seen before.  Although they are styled like leather wallets and are as flexible as leather, these wallets are made of wood.  Carved finishes the wood with their own mixture of oils and waxes to protect it.  As a bonus, their finishing method, as they say, makes the wallets smell amazing.

The wood is backed with Tyvek and the wallets are hand-stitched.  They are made using cherry, walnut, walnut burl, ebony, or padauk woods.  Three styles are available:  minimalist, bifold, and card carry.  The minimalist wallets are for the person who only needs 3-4 cards and 3-4 bills (though you could squeeze in a couple more, if you really needed).  The bifold has two slots to hold a couple of cards each and a full-length section to hold bills, and the card carry wallet has four sections to hold cards and some folded bills.

Carved wallets are handmade for you in Indiana.  Prices are $35 – $60, varying with the wood type and the style.  Learn more at the Carved website.

Cross and TrackR have another way to prevent losing your favorite pens

Last fall, we told you about a Cross pen with a TrackR built in to help you keep up with it.  This time, Cross and TrackR have a pen pouch that will help you keep up with your favorite pens.  The Cross Pen Pouch with TrackR measures 7″ long x 2.25″ tall and is made with a smooth leatherette in black, red, or blue.  It has a zipper closure, and inside is a small pouch that holds the included 1.25″-diameter TrackR Bravo fob.  The TrackR app is available for both Android and iOS.

The Cross Pen Pouch with TrackR is $30.00 at Levenger.

The Rolgear multi-bit ratchet screwdriver is buttery smooth and quiet

If you ever used a ratchet screwdriver, you know that they can be quite cumbersome. The Rolgear multi-bit silent ratchet screwdriver puts a new twist on the ratchet screwdriver. Unlike typical ratchet screwdrivers, Rolgear uses roller-bearing technology instead of gears.

No gears, no problem

The benefit of roller-bearing technology is both faster and smoother movement. There’s no lost motion trying to get to that next gear, resulting in less effort on your part. And no gears means no noise.

The screwdriver can be used in three different positions, forward, reverse and locked. In the locked position the Rolgear operates as a standard screwdriver.

A simple turn of a knob adjusts the direction of the ratchet.

The screwdriver’s rounded triangular shape prevents it from rolling out of reach. The cushioned handle also doubles as bit storage, storing 7 double-ended bits. To access a different bit take the working bit and use it to push the stored bit forward. An embedded magnet holds the bit in place until you’re ready to use it.

The Rolgear multi-bit ratchet screwdriver comes with a Lifetime warranty on the ratchet mechanism and is available for $24.99 on Amazon.

Give a little stability and extra leak-proofing to those indoor puppy training pads

We never had to use puppy pads for our dog, Teddy.  He was house trained from the moment his feet hit the floor.  But now that Teddy is 12.5 years old, he can’t quite wait as long as he used to for a trip outdoors.  Making it even harder is that he now has to wait for a busy elevator to make its way to us for the long trip down before he can get outside.  We decided to make it easier for him and us by keeping some puppy pads on hand.  Problem is those things are small and get easily wadded up while he’s twirling around to find just the perfect spot, meaning he would miss the pad entirely sometimes.  I found the IRIS Pad Floor Tray, and it solved our problems.

The Floor Tray consists of a plastic pan with non-skid rubber feet on the bottom to prevent leak through.  It has a raised rim and plastic nubs around the edges of the pan.  There’s a white plastic frame that fits over the raised rim and snaps on to hold the pad in place.  The tray measures 25.5″ x 18.9″ x 1.75″ and is designed to work with the regular-sized IRIS Neat ’n Dry pet training pads.  The pads are held snugly by the floor tray, so Teddy can twirl to his heart’s content without wadding up the pad at all.  The area is a little small for an adult dog, even a little 16-pounder like Teddy, so I bought a second tray.  I just put them side-by-side, and he has plenty of room to walk around for all his business.

The IRIS Neat ‘n’ Dry pet training pads are available to auto-ship from Amazon, so I don’t even have to remember to re-order them.  The IRIS Pad Floor Tray is $9.39 at Amazon.
