Keep your pet hydrated in the heat with gravity water dispenser

NEWS – My dog has a beautiful black coat that gets super hot in the summer sun. I refill her water bowl an awful lot, but when I realized she was waking me in the night not for a potty break but to drink out of our pool, I decided we needed a better way to keep her hydrated.

The Amazon Basics Self-Dispensing Gravity Pet Feeder and Waterer does the trick, with a one-gallon jug that releases water into the bowl, replenishing itself as your pet drinks it.

A spill-proof connector, screwed into the bottom of the bottle, makes it easy to fill and pop into place without creating any unnecessary puddles on your floor. It’s hand washable and easy to clean. And the clear bottle makes it obvious to determine when she needs a refill.

Built-in handles give you a nice grip when repositioning it. And non-skid feet help the bowl section grip to the floor and stay in place.

My thirsty pup is a messy drinker (aren’t they all?), so we place our watering contraption inside a heavy-duty boot tray to contain the splashes.

As of writing this, the gravity dispenser had 4.3 stars out of 5 with 1,907 reviews on Amazon. The Amazon Basics Self-Dispensing Gravity Pet Waterer is available on Amazon for $11.99.

Tomorrow is Prime Day, so make sure you’re ready for all the Black Friday in July deals

NEWS – Other than Black Friday, which comes in November, the biggest shopping day of the year has been Amazon Prime Day which launched 5 years ago. Prime Day has been one day in July where Amazon heavily discounts products exclusively for Amazon Prime members.

This year, Amazon is giving Prime members 2 days of crazy deals and the event starts tomorrow on July 15th at 2:59am EDT and runs through July 16th. To take advantage of all the deals, you will need to be an Amazon Prime member. Here’s how you can easily signup today so you’ll be all set for tomorrow.

The easiest way is to sign up for a free 30 day trial of Prime is to go here. You can also get a free trial of Prime if you sign up for Amazon Family account or an Amazon Prime Student account.

Once you’re signed up as an Amazon Prime member, be sure and keep an eye on the deals posted on the Amazon Prime Day page.

You can also sign up to get a sneak peek at deals before they go live by using the Amazon app on your mobile device. For more info on how to do that, go here.

You should also be aware that many of the Prime Day deals will be featured as Lightning Deals which means you have to grab them fast because they are time-sensitive deals which will end before the end of the whole Amazon Prime Day event. The best thing to do if you see a product that you want to buy is to add it to your cart immediately. However, you’ll only have 15 minutes to make up your mind if you want to buy it.

If you happen to miss out on buying something you wanted, all hope isn’t lost because there is an opportunity to still get the deal. You can join the wait list for that product and if the same item expires in someone else’s cart, it will magically show up in yours and you will have another 15 minutes to complete the sale. Crisis averted!

Shake your way to a healthy campfire snack

NEWS – If smores give you a bellyache and fire-cooked hot dogs don’t please your palate, check out the Traditional Shake and Pop Outdoor Popcorn Popper from Wabash Valley Farms for your next campfire snack.

My son and co-reviewer, Mason, just like his grandfather, needs a daily dose of popcorn. In fact, these guys opt for popcorn over ice cream, which I never quite understood.

Mason’s also an outdoorsy type who spends at least two weeks a year at summer camp forgoing comforts like indoor plumbing and electricity.

We considered sending him to camp with a load of Jiffy Pop, but he wasn’t impressed with the disposable packaging, and I wasn’t thrilled about petroleum derivative TBHQ (tertiary butylhydroquinone).

That’s when we found the Shake and Pop for simple popcorn making without the extras. You just screw together the 18-inch-handle, add a little oil and your kernels, and like the name says, you shake it over the fire until it pops for a tasty treat! At less than 2 pounds, the light-weight aluminum isn’t cumbersome or difficult to maneuver.

And you don’t have to abandon civilization to enjoy it. This open-fire popper works just as well in the backyard firepit or even your fireplace.

As of writing this, the popcorn cooker had 4.4 stars out of 5 with 5,610 reviews on Amazon. The Shake and Pop Outdoor Popcorn Popper is available on Amazon for $17.91.
