TicWatch Pro is a smartwatch with 30 day battery life

NEWS – Powered by Google’s Wear OS, the TicWatch smartwatch is a premium quality watch that does something that other smartwatches can’t do. It can run for up 5 to 30 days on a single charge. Five days is considerably longer than the majority of smartwatches that are currently on the market. So how are they able to do that? The TicWatch Pro uses a special layered display:

enabling the user to switch between an FSTN (Film compensated Super Twisted Nematic) LCD display and an OLED display that sit on top of one another. The FSTN display (top layer) is a transparent LCD display chosen due to its low power consumption, high visibility in direct sunlight, and transparent quality when not turned on. This is important in order to ensure the OLED (bottom layer) display’s brightness and colors aren’t compromised when in use.

The TicWatch Pro has different two modes that switch between the two displays. In “Smart Mode”, the OLED display is active along with Wear OS by Google, and battery life is up to two full days of usage. In “Essential Mode”, only the FSTN display is in use to show the time, date, step counting, and heart rate monitoring. In this mode, battery life can last up to 30 days. When Smart Mode reaches low battery, the Essential Mode can be automatically activated so the watch can last for another three days before it needs to be recharged.

BOSS Katana-Air claims to be the first truly wireless portable guitar amp

NEWS – I don’t know if it’s truly the first, but the BOSS Katana-Air 30W Stereo Combo Amplifier comes with a proprietary wireless transmitter to connect to your guitar to the amp.  The Katana-Air is a true stereo amplifier with two custom-tuned speakers.  You’re ready to play anywhere with this BOSS.  It provides 30W of audio power when plugged into a power outlet or 20W when running off battery.  The amp uses “low-latency digital-wireless guitar technology developed by BOSS to provide transparent sound without any lag or dropouts.”

The guitar transmitter provides up to 12 hours of playing time.  It recharges with a dock on the amp itself.  It maximizes playing time by entering standby mode for both the transmitter and amp when you aren’t playing.  When you pick up the guitar, the transmitter senses motion and turns on the amp.  The Katana-Air also has a headphone jack for silent practicing.

When you aren’t using the BOSS Katana-Air as a practice amp, it’s a Bluetooth speaker for music playback from your computer or mobile devices.

NEWS – Okay, I’ll admit it. I have a weakness for in-ear headphones—or as I like to call them, plain ole’ earphones. It started with a pair of Future Sonics Atrio earphones I won in a contest. Protect your AirPods with Twelve South’s AirSnap case

NEWS – Most of the protective covers I’ve seen for AirPods are silicone pouches, but Twelve South adds luxury to the AirPods with their full-grain leather AirSnap case.  AirSnap is designed to protect your expensive earbuds and their charging case while they are floating around in your bag or desk drawer.  The case has a snap closure and a cutout on the bottom that allows charging without removing the AirPods from the leather case.

A cat tree that doesn’t look like a cat tree

NEWS – Instead of a big carpet-covered column with carpet-covered shelves and boxes like most cat trees, this Natural Sphere Cat Tower from Sauder looks almost like a floor lamp.  The tower stands 43.75″ tall and is 19.8″ wide at the front and 21.6″ deep.  It’s topped with a wicker sphere with two access holes and is fitted with a comfortable, machine-washable bed cushion inside.  The base has a carpeted shelf and a toy on an elastic string.  One leg is wrapped with sisal rope to serve as a scratching post (instead of your sofa arms).  The wood has an espresso finish.
