The Lofree QTV Wireless Speaker is designed like a cute palm-sized retro TV

NEWS – The Lofree QTV Wireless Speaker is a 5W 40mm Bluetooth 4.0 speaker designed just like a tiny retro TV. It’s a speaker. It’s an alarm clock. It’s a timer. It’s cool! This cute speaker was reviewed at CNET and according to Mr. Broida, the speaker only shows 24-hour time and the screen goes dark after a certain duration to preserve the battery, but it sounds pretty good for its size and has two customizable alarms which allow you to record a snippet of music or your voice to play when the alarm goes off. It looks like you can use the antenna to silence the alarm and the top dial to adjust the volume (when music is playing) or set the clock, alarm, or time.

The speaker fits in your hand and will play for about five hours on one charge. And according to a couple of people who have reviewed it on Amazon, the body is made of metal. It comes in Aestival Blue, Scarlet Red, Peppermint Green, and Vernal White and is quite expensive if you are purchasing it from Amazon or Lofree ($119) but you might be able to find it elsewhere cheaper. What an interesting and unique twist on a Bluetooth speaker!

Don’t settle for a utilitarian bike rack. Get one that looks as good as it performs!

NEWS – You need to carry more stuff for your bike commute than you can support on your back, so you need a rack for your bicycle.  While you need it to be strong and useful, you don’t want it to look clunky on your sleek bike.  Check out the Portland Design Works Everyday Rack.  It’s made of durable alloy tubing, may be mounted to a rear wheel skewer, and includes a tail light mounting point and solid, adjustable attachment arms.

The deck is made of double-ply bamboo; it measures 8.25″ x 3″.  The rack is 16.5″ tall.  It’s rated for 55 pounds of cargo.  PDW says: “The lower mounting bars allow panniers’ center of gravity to be closer in line with your wheel, improving rear-end stability even when hauling heavy loads. Additionally, it means the platform is easily utilized, even when riding with two panniers.”

The Everyday Rack is $99.00 at Portland Design Works.  You can also find it at Amazon for only $80.00.

Resistance is futile! You will be assimilated by this Borg cube!

NEWS – I’ve reviewed a couple of accent lights similar to this Star Trek Giant Borg Cube Mood Light, but I’ve never tried one this large nor one from the Star Trek universe.  The Borg mood light is officially-licensed Star Trek: The Next Generation merchandise.  The polyethylene cube is 15.5″ on a side.  It supports up to 190 pounds, so you can use it as a chair, or as a footstool, a table, or simply as accent lighting.  It’s safe for use indoors or outdoors in dry conditions. Its internal 2200mAh lithium battery recharges with the included 6 ft. 110V AC power cord (US) and provides up to 8 hours of light at the low setting.  It operates in four modes:  flash, strobe, fade, and smooth.  You select from 16 colors and brightness levels using the included remote.

The Star Trek Giant Borg Cube Mood Light is $149.99 – and remember, this isn’t just a light; it’s furniture, too!  It’s available at ThinkGeek.

Monk manual, new Trayvax wallet, Polar Seal heated t-shirts, and more – Notable crowdfunding campaigns

NEWS – This week we are bringing you information about six different crowdfunding campaigns that are currently running on Kickstarter and Indiegogo that will be of interest to wallet fans, pet lovers, and more.

The Monk Manual Planner: A Daily System for Being + Doing

What is it?

The Monk Manual is a 90-day planner that is designed to help you focus on the important things and get things done.

Why is it cool?

I like the Monk Manual Planner because it’s a well-made notebook. I know this because they sent me an early production sample. I like that the manual combines several things into one notebook. There’s a planner, habit tracker, reflection area (think gratitude journal), and more. It’s A5-ish sized (8.3in x 5.8in) and it lays flat when it’s open. Yay!

Where can I find more info?

The Monk Manual Planner campaign ends on 11/27/18 and they have already met their funding goal of $10,000. You can pre-order a Monk Manual Planner starting at $29. After the Monk Manual Planner campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2018. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

What is it?

POLAR SEAL heated T-Shirts are exactly what you guess they are, they are t-shirts that are heated to…well…keep you warm!

Why is it cool?

I like the POLAR SEAL heated T-Shirts because I’m cold natured. It doesn’t matter if it’s 100F degrees outside, I’ll probably be wearing a sweater when I’m indoors because air conditioning can make me chill. These t-shirts from POLAR SEAL come in long and short versions and in sizes for men and women. They heat up the upper back area with the touch of a button and can continue heating for up to 8hrs on a charge of a 10,000 mAh battery pack.

What to consider before pledging

A battery pack is NOT included with the t-shirt. You’re on your own to supply a USB battery pack.

Where can I find more info?

The POLAR SEAL heated T-Shirts campaign ends on 11/14/18 and they more than halfway to meeting their funding goal of $40,000. You can pre-order a POLAR SEAL heated T-Shirt starting at $89. VAVA Mobile Pet Cam

The VAVA Mobile Pet Cam is a like a small camera that you can control remotely.

I like the VAVA Mobile Pet Cam because unlike home security cameras, this camera is mobile. Using an app, you can roll it around your home to check in on your pets. It has 2-way audio with bark alerts, a built-in treat dispenser, and a laser pointer for cat chasing fun. It even has drop detection sensors like a Roomba robot vacuum so you won’t accidentally send it falling down stairs.

Where can I find more info?

Wallor 2.0 wallet

What is it?

The Wallor 2.0 is a smart wallet with features that include wireless charger, RFID protection, GPS tracking, and more.

Why is it cool?

I like the Wallor 2.0 because it’s been designed with every feature you can think of that might be needed for a wallet. First of all, it holds cash and cards and the cards are protected from RFID scanners. And then it’s protected from theft or loss because you can find it anywhere in the world by it’s built-in global GPS tracker. But one of the coolest features is that the Wallor wallet can become a wireless charger for your wireless charging compatible phone. Just place the phone on top of the wallet and it will charge it.

It’s been 5 years since the Trayvax Original went live on Kickstarter. For their 5 year anniversary, they upgraded the Original to the OG 2.0. The OG 2.0 Multifunctional wallet is a new wallet from Trayvax that can hold up to 15 cards plus cash.
