NEWS – When my daughter was born 23 years ago, one of the first things we bought for her room was a Diaper Genie.  Unlike normal garbage cans, the Diaper Genie had canisters of plastic bag material inside that would twist around each diaper as you disposed of it to reduce the smell of the dirty diaper until you hauled it out of the house.  Now, Chewy is offering the Litter Champ Premium Odor-Free Cat Litter Waste Disposal System to keep the smell of used cat litter under control.

The Litter Champ looks much like a typical garbage can.  It’s made of durable, non-porous ABS resin in gray; its triple-sealing door locks odors inside.  Childproof locks on the lid and side door keep kids and pets away from the discarded litter.  Inside, canisters of zero-waste continuous bagging holds the discarded litter.  The refill canisters lasts about 10 weeks, and you can empty the Litter Champ whenever you like without wasting bags.

Aluminum + tempered glass = cool iPhone XS Max bumper case

NEWS – We’ve seen and reviewed many metal frame bumper cases over the years for a variety of smartphones. But this one from Brando Workshop caught my attention because it has a sheet of scratch-resistant and fingerprint-resistant tempered glass built into the bottom half of the bumper. The glass protects the back of your iPhone from wear and tear while still allowing wireless charging. But the cool part for me is that this bumper case uses magnets instead of screws to keep the two front and back halves of the case together.

The Avocado Sock quickly ripens avocados in the cutest way possible

NEWS – Buying avocados is never an exact science. You either choose one that’s overripe or not ripe enough. And waiting for an avocado to ripen is never ideal. The Avocado Sock (that’s right I said sock) was made to quickly and perfectly ripen the little green fruit.

The sock is made from pure 100% Shetland wool that’s sourced from a 200-year old woolen mill in Scotland. Pure wool is used because of its natural lanolin. And the dark and warm environment is ideal for helping the avocado ripen.

Just insert an unripened avocado in the small, cute, wool sock and place it in a warm, dry place. Gently sealing it with the drawstring allows it to ripen in as little as 24 hours. It also reduces bruising and damage.

The sock can also be used to ripen other fruits and vegetables.

Give the gift of a diamond – decanter, that is

NEWS – Back in 2012, John Walker & Sons produced 60 bottles of a limited-edition whisky to honor the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s ascension to the throne.  That whisky was bottled in a beautiful lead crystal decanter with a sterling silver collar set with a half-carat diamond.  The decanter was diamond shaped, similar to this decanter shown here, but the Walker decanter was all crystal, with the base part of the decanter itself.  Those bottles sold for £100,000.  There’s no way I’ll ever even see one of those Diamond Jubilee bottles, much less own one.  But I could get a beautiful diamond-shaped decanter with a wooden base for a much more budget-friendly price.

Amazon is offering the Crystal Liquors 1000ml Diamond Liquor Decanter with a hand-crafted wood stand.  The decanter is hand-blown, lead-free glass with a hermetic, round glass stopper that prevents evaporation and leaks.  The Diamond Liquor Decanter is $34.97 at Amazon.

What is it?

Why is it cool?

As a photographer, I find this to be a great bag for many types of shoots and the fact that it feels so comfortable really will help on those long photo shoot days. The backpack is also great for work and for excursions with my family and especially so when out with my kids and when I need to ensure that they have the necessary supplies.
