Hello, friends! Welcome to Bob’s EDC update. I am always on the go for work and I am obsessive about functional design, so I’m constantly tweaking my toolsets to optimize my daily carry. Here’s the go-to list of items that find their way into my daily EDC!

(Note: I’ve included links to all the items on my list where available f you would like to check them out yourself. In some cases, an item may be an older model, so I have linked to the latest product page where appropriate.)

The Bag.

I’m obsessive about bags. I have used more messengers, briefcases, and backpacks than I care to count. My current go-to is the Timbuk2 Command Backpack. It allows me to haul a whole day’s worth of work stuff (including lunch, gym gear, etc.), and it’s ridiculously comfortable to carry for extended periods. It looks good in a business-casual workplace, and it’s great for one-bag work travel for a short trip. I do have some issues with the accessibility and pocket design, but I have yet to beat it for day-to-day flexibility and capacity.

Having said that… we’re moving to an “open space” office design at work, and I’ll need to adapt to a more flexible, mobile office solution. I’m thinking that a bigger messenger bag may meet my needs, and I’m researching solutions at this time (I don’t mind taking suggestions!).

The Laptop. 

I work in digital marketing, so testing things across multiple devices is a key part of my job. I have a Thinkpad, but I much prefer my 13″ MacBook Air for daily use on the go. It’s smaller size and lighter weight is great for running about. Did you happen to notice that MacBook skin in the picture? Kinda cool, right? That’s a natural Stone Skin from Cover-Up, which I am currently evaluating for an upcoming review here on The Gadgeteer. More on that soon!

The Tablet.

I’m experimenting with switching to a tablet as a laptop replacement for day-to-day use. I have a work-issued iPad Air that I can use get 80% of my work done, but the current love of my life is the iPad Pro 12.9″. This is my personal tablet, and I have it tricked out with the iPad Pro Smart Keyboard and the Apple Pencil. With this combination, I can accomplish virtually any business, personal, or creative task that I need to get done.

If you’re wondering about the illustration on the iPad in the photo, that’s one of mine. I draw for fun, and to keep my creative muscles in working order. That piece was done in Sketchbook Pro, but I’m currently digging Proceate as my go-to drawing package. Its integration with the Apple Pencil is amazing.

The Phone. 

I’m an iPhone guy from the first generation, and I currently have the iPhone 6S. It’s got all the function and ease-of-use I need at this point, and I don’t see the need to upgrade any time soon. My phone case is also a Cover-Up product, called the Stone Explorer. It’s also a natural stone material like the MacBook skin. I’ll be posting pictures of this along with a detailed review with my evaluation of the MacBook Stone Skin soon!

The Headphones.

My headphones are the Yurbuds Signature Series Sport Earphones. I hit the gym almost every day and these buds are great for their durability, comfort, and water resistance. Sound quality is not exceptional, but more than good enough for playing tunes & drowning out background noise. The microphone is pretty good for personal and conference calls, with minimal background interference. The wire-wrapped chords minimize tangles, which is an added plus.

The Wallet. 

Last year I picked up a Harvey’s Seat Belt Wallet. I’m a fan. Not only is it a cool eco-friendly solution, but it’s indestructible and really well designed to carry all of your cards & cash without getting overly bulky.

The Coffee Gear.

Life without coffee is unthinkable. I’ve been using an Aerobie Aeropress Coffee Maker for years. As long as you have access to hot water, it makes the best brewing solution out there in a simple, portable package. I also use stainless steel mesh filters instead of paper filters (yes, it does make a difference in flavor!). There is an  endless variety of these filters available through Amazon, but these are the ones I currently use.

I grind my own beans fresh every morning and keep in a classic Ball jar for transport. You can’t beat Ball jars. They keep a tight seal, they’re compact, and they are virtually unbreakable.

The Beverage Mug.

The Force is strong with is my Tervis mug. I love that you can go from hot-to-cold in this double-walled beastie, it is easy to clean, and really tough. They also sell a variety of add-ons for lids and accessories. The only downside to this mug is that the lid is not completely sealable, so you do have to be careful about transport. I’ll probably need to switch to a watertight option if I switch to a messenger bag, but I’m a Star Wars guy. I’m kind of attached to my Stormtrooper mug at the moment.

Accessory Pouches.

I love Tom Bihn products and have owned a number of their bags over the years. Tom Bihn is legendary for the design and build quality of their bags and accessories, all made in Seattle. Pictured here are a set of their accessory pouches that I use to corral all the loose stuff in my bag. There’s a standard pouch (the blue one), a padded pouch that’s great for delicate items (the black one), and a cool little pouch that uses a cork material that I have never seen anywhere else. Every pouch also comes with a built-in clip, which allows me to keep them attached to a ring for easy access when dumped into the bottom of my pack. The Ukulele.

I’m an avid ukulele player, and I own several of them. I wouldn’t call myself good, but I compensate for a lack of skill with a ton of enthusiasm. I’ll confess that I normally don’t carry my ukulele… but it felt right to sneak one into the picture.

When Julie asked each of us to do an EDC update I thought, “I don’t have that much stuff.” When it came time for me to empty my bag I was surprised how much stuff I could catalog. So, after neatly laying things out and using an orchid/violet item-neutral label, I’m proud to present my daily schlep: 

1. Company issued Dell Latitude E7450. I’d prefer one of the newer touch models with the full HD screen. Maybe the IT fairy will bring me something nice for my next upgrade.
2. Clipboard for keeping things neat and a Livescribe notebook. See item #30 for more details.
3. Company issued High Sierra backpack. I added a LED lamp/reflector for when I’m walking out at night.
4. Power brick for the Dell. Actually, this is for the older model but brick has higher wattage for faster charging and weighs only a couple of ounces more.
5. Mini DisplayPort to VGA. The computer has HDMI, but not every projector/AV system does
6. Cat5 cable and 3.5mm 4 pole audio splitter. Sometimes I can use cat5 wired internet at places with secured wifi. The audio splitter comes in handy once in a while.
7. VGA cable and 3.5mm 4 pole patch. The audio cable and the splitter can be used as an extension cord (with loss of impedence if I actually split the signal, but this is usually for low-quality recording anyway.)
8. SOG Paratool multi-tool. MacGyver should have this model.
9. Contigo Autoseal Randolph stainless steel vacuum insulated travel mug. I like this more than some people. See my review here,.
10. Wallet. The old fashioned, scoliosis-inducing, leather version.
11. Bright green laser pointer. I’ll answer the question I always get now, “No, I don’t point this at airplanes.”
12. Microsoft mouse in an old Jaybirds pouch. Cuz sometimes you just need a mouse.
13. PhotoFast i-FlashDrive CR-8800 iOS microSD card reader. See my review here.
14. Hairbrush.
15. Umbrella. Like my scoutmaster told me: “be prepared.”
16. Keys. I have a couple of things on the ring that are useful: A Huskey Key ring screwdriver with three flats and a Philips compatible blade and also a 8GB USB thumb drive
17. Phiaton MS 300 BA earphones and case. See my review here.
18. A keyboard/screen brush/cleaner. A dusty screen in the midst of bright sun is one of my pet peeves.
19. A micro USB charger for whatever else I happen to be carrying that day. This has an extra long metal part for charging devices with hinges, like my Jaybird Freedom earbuds.
20. Sewing kit. See #15
21. An iPhone charging cable with a 10W power supply. Gets the job done twice as fast on an iPhone 6 or later.
22. Little bag for the Livescribe pen, GoSmart stylus, and scale (ruler).
23. iPhone 6 with what’s left of a Spigen case with an Aluminum ring. The Aluminum fatigued so now its just a rubber bumper case.
24. First aid kit. See #20 and #15
25. A bag of paper towels. See #24, #20 and #15. Actually, I usually have a small bag of tissues, but I need to restock.
26. Business cards, post-its, including a Livescribe Sticky Notes, on a bag for carrying these items and the pens to the right.
27. Gum, a granola bar, and some cough drops (which lasted longer than the tissues…I guess it was more of a cold than a cough.)
28. A 4-color pen, a sleeve for the GoSmart stylus, the GoSmart stylus and a wood-tone scale (ruler). See Julie’s review.
29. A pink Frixion highlighter, mechanical pencil, green highlighter, LED lamp/red laser/stylus/pen combo, and a stain remover pen (that has saved me from embarrassment on more than one occasion).
30. Livescribe case, Livescribe echo pen and Livescribe earphones with binaural microphones (in a pill bottle).

When Julie asked us to create EDC update posts, I initially thought I’d just include the handful of items that I carry on my person at all times.  But then I thought, “Nah.  Not my style.  My style is to go overboard.”  Thus behold, all of my current EDC items.  Incidentally, the EDC items I carry with my person at all times are of course included—see the very bottom photo.  Enjoy! 

1. GORUCK GR1 (26L) Rucksack – This is one.  The One Ruck to Rule Them All.  This is the ruck (military term for ‘backpack’) that made me not only convert from messenger bags, but also to swear off all other backpacks.  GORUCK is a company founded by Jason McCarthy, a former Green Beret, and his childhood friend Jack Barley, a talented designer, and the GR1 was their first product.  When I stumbled upon the GORUCK web site several years ago, I was immediately attracted to their rugged yet simple gear style—GORUCK calls it “Baghdad meets NYC.”  The built-in-USA GR1 can swallow up 26 liters of whatever I can throw into it and is easy to pack and unpack with its lay-flat, fully zip-open design.  Its wide, thickly padded straps make it feel amazingly comfortable while wearing it, even when the load is heavy, and I’ve carried heavy in it.  On business trips I’ve carried up to 30lbs in this thing through airports and around cities, and while training for GORUCK Challenges (see below) I’ve carried up to 65lbs in it.  Although I can certainly feel the weight, it is not painful on my shoulders and back.  In addition to some versatile interior organizational features, as a nod to its military pedigree the GR1 includes MOLLE-style webbing inside and out to attach various accessories.  To the side of the GR1, I’ve added an ITS Tactical Skeletonized Water Bottle Holder (see item #3 below) as well as a Condor Tech Sheath to one of the shoulder straps to hold small items that I want to access quickly. Additionally, the GR1 includes a 2-inch by 3-inch Velcro field on the front to allow the user to attach Velcro-backed morale patches to customize your GR1 and make it yours.  Here, I’ve attached the patch that I earned by completing my first GORUCK Tough Challenge, a 10-12 hour, 15-20 mile team-based endurance event led by an active-duty Green Beret that helps forge a group of individuals into a team using Special Forces training principles (yes, I wore this ruck during this event, and many others that followed).  I could go on and on about this ruck, and this company, but suffice it to say that the GR1 has been my favorite ruck/pack/bag for several years running.
2. Guinness Pint Luggage tag – Guinness Draught Stout is my all-time favorite beverage (well, favorite evening beverage—coffee rules the daytime hours).  This luggage tag was a gift from my generous in-laws who purchased it on a trip to Dublin, Ireland, where they visited St. James’s Gate, toured the Guinness Storehouse and stopped in the 2-story gift shop.  Yes, 2-story gift shop.  I was fortunate to be able to make a pilgrimage there a few years later. Sláinte!
3. ITS Tactical Skeletonized Bottle Holder – A minimalist, adjustable and nearly indestructible beverage container holder.  Well designed, well built and it attaches to just about anything with MOLLE webbing, including my GORUCK GR1 (#1 above).
4. Contigo AUTOSEAL West Loop 16oz travel mug – With a durable stainless steel body, THERMALOCK Vacuum Insulation that keeps my coffee piping hot for hours and AUTOSEAL push-button technology that is both leak and spill proof, it’s saved me from massive spills several times.
5. Stuff sack – I use this to transport my workout clothes: shorts, T-shirt, socks, briefs.  The stuff sack rolls down closed and seals in my sweaty, smelly post-workout clothes, keeping them from contaminating everything else in my ruck.  Each evening when I get home, I just empty the stuff sack into the laundry, then re-fill it with clean workout clothes for the next day and throw it back into my GR1.  Easy peasy.
6. Lenovo Thinkpad X260 notebook PC w/ power supply – Work-issued laptop.  It’s actually considered an ultra-portable but is kind of a tank.  She ain’t pretty, which is why I’ve added the decals, but she’s durable, and the slim profile and small footprint are great for work travel.
7. Ray Ban prescription sunglasses with case – Even in Indiana, we occasionally get sunshine.  Gotta have shades.
8. American Flag-styled handkerchief – Because ‘Merica.
9. iClever BoostRun BTH07 Sweatproof Bluetooth Sport Headphones – Nice little sport headphones.   I’m currently reviewing these, so stay tuned for a full review.
10. Pocket-sized Declaration of Independence & Constitution of the United States -These two documents are so foundational to our nation that I think every American ought to a least have a copy of them handy, but even better, to learn their content and what they mean to our rights as citizens.
11. SlimFold Soft Shell wallet – I’ve been using this wallet non-stop since I reviewed it.  Very thin, small footprint, water doesn’t phase it and it keeps things minimal.  Honorable mention goes to my Bellroy Elements Pocket wallet, which is a close second favorite, and which I bust out when I know I’m going to be doing something very active around water or mud.
12. Survival Straps GORUCK Tough paracord bracelet – I have several 550 paracord bracelets that I rotate through, some of which I’ve made myself, others I purchased.  This is my favorite at the moment, mainly because it sports the GORUCK Tough logo, which I’ve earned the right to wear, and is, well, black.  And black is cool.
13. Silicone wedding band – I’m a fairly active guy and my workouts often consists of gripping objects like barbells, dumbells, kettlebells, pull-up bars, sandbags, rocks, logs and other objects that generally tear up my hands—and my wedding band.  I bought this inexpensive silicone wedding band on eBay to try it out, and I really like the look and feel of it.  I may upgrade to a Groove Ring at some point because Groove appears to have built some unique and useful features into their rings.
14. REI Mini MultiTowel – This little tiny towel has saved me on more than a few occasions, everything from mopping up spills to a quick towel-off after getting caught in a downpour.  It stuffs into its own small mesh carrying case with an attached carabiner for storage which I clip to the MOLLE webbing inside my GR1.
15. Triple Seven Gear CORE Nano Wallet – This is actually a combo wallet and EDC organizer.  Works well for carrying a few small items and also functions fairly well as an actual wallet, though I don’t use it that way often (see #11 above)
16. Companion Prayers booklet – A publication of Companions of St. Anthony, this booklet is packed with 40 prayers for many occasions and circumstances.  I use this little booklet quite often.
17. GORUCK Mini Wire Dopp – (NOTE: This link points to the GORUCK Wire Dopp, which is the larger version of its smaller cousin, the Mini Wire Dopp.  The Mini is currently out of stock.)  Like all GORUCK items, their Mini Wire Dopp is well-designed, built tough (in USA) and looks cool.  It has several mesh zipper pockets inside for organization, a quick-release buckle closure and like most GORUCK gear (including the GR1 ruck above), a Velcro field to affix your favorite morale patch, like my Rebel Alliance symbol patch (if you haven’t yet seen Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, I strongly encourage you to do so).
18. Moleskine Barnes & Noble Exclusive Limited Edition Star Wars Darth Vader Large Notebook – Pretty much says it all.  If you haven’t guessed by now, I am YUGE Star Wars fan and I use this notebook for journaling.  I am currently using a Pilot G-Tec-C4 in 0.4mm tip pen but I occasionally switch to others (see contents of item #20 below).
19. Give Us This Day & highlighter – This is a Catholic monthly publication book that contains daily prayers, Mass readings, stories of the saints’ lives and other great spiritual helps.  I use it multiple times per day to guide my prayers, devotions, and reflections.  I also use a highlighter to identify things I want to revisit later.
20. County Comm Handy Zipper Pouch by Maratac (small size) – Nylon webbing material, YKK zipper and paracord attachment loop.  Simple, well-constructed and handy.  I use the loop to attach it to the MOLLE inside my GR1.
21. iPhone 6 Plus with Lifeproof Fre Case – My iPhone 6 Plus is one of the items I always have with me (see below).  I’ve tried a lot of different cases, but I like that the Lifeproof Fre case provides quite a bit of protection, including against moisture, and considering how much I sweat during workouts and exercise outside, this case does the job well for me.  It isn’t perfect, but I like it.
22. The Pocket Gospels and Psalms book – Published by Our Sunday Visitor, it includes the Gospels of Saints Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, plus the Psalms.  Of course it isn’t the entire Bible, but these are some of the best parts.  
23. Garmin fenix 3 HR multipsport training watch – This was my birthday present from my family last year.  I’ve been a G-Shock devotee for about 20 years, but when my last G-Shock defied efforts to bring it back to life, I started looking into the GPS watches.  The Garmin fenix 3 HR came highly recommended by someone I respect, so I waited a year for the price to come down and this was my birthday present from my family last year.  Great watch.  Probably more watch than I need, but every day I’m glad I bought it.  I might attempt to review it, but I’m not sure I could do it justice.
24. Leatherman Juice XE6 multi-tool & Leather Sheath – My in-laws gave me this a few years ago as a Christmas gift and it’s one of my favorite gadgets.  It has a lot of tools packed into a small space and is very well constructed.  The Leather Sheath fits it perfectly and I clip it to the MOLLE inside my GR1.
25. Omega Pacific Standard Locking D Carabiner in Bright color – I typically attach this to the top handle of my GR1.  In my cubicle at work, I have a piece of webbing rigged up where I use this carabiner to hang my GR1.  Omega Pacific makes some of the best climbing carabiners on the market.  I bought this one to use in my first GORUCK Tough Challenge a few years ago.  It’s been through a lot of abuse and it looks the same as when I bought it.

Inside the GORUCK Mini Wire-Dopp:

1. Micro-fiber cloth – Never know when you might need one of these, what with all the device screens and all.
2. Paper clips – 2 sizes: small and micro.  Occasionally needed and very handy.
3. Lexar USB flash drive – Uh, to store files.
4. GorillaDrive USB flash drive – Also to store files as with #3, but in a nearly indestructible package.
5. Combo laser-pointer/LED flashlight – Given to me several years ago by a friend who works at GM.  I don’t have occasion to use this much anymore, but it’s very slim and takes up little space, so I keep it in my kit.
6. Container of Tyleno/Advil with strip of Gorilla Tape – Sometimes life is a headache.  Sometimes I just get a headache.  The strip of Gorilla Tape is for emergencies.
7. Apple 5W USB Power Adapter – Because my iPhone (and other gadgets) need juice.
8. Cheap-o car DC power adapter – For travel emergencies.  I don’t need this much anymore, because most vehicles includes some type of charging method for devices.
9. Rebel Alliance symbol morale path – Bought on eBay.  One of my favorite patches.  Hearkens back to the original Star Wars trilogy as well as the recent Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
10. USB to Apple Lightning Adapter – Stubby little flexible adapter that I bought at a CVS pharmacy.  I use this to charge my iPhone from my laptop while sitting in meetings.
11. TYLT SYNCABLE-DUO Charge and Sync Cable – This cable was half of a set that I reviewed a while back.  My kids confiscated the TYLT ENERGI 2K Travel Charger that came with this cable.  I like the cable a lot because it has both Apple Lightning as well as micro USB which I can use to charge the iClever headphones and other devices that require micro USB.
12. Moleskine Volante XS notebook – For emergency note jotting.  This, along with my Fisher Space Bullet Pen (see below) saved me once during an airport travel emergency when I needed to jot a ton of info very quickly.  Super handy little notebooks.

Inside the County Comm Handy Zipper Pouch by Maratac (small size):

1. Titanium spork – Bought on eBay.
2. Pilot Precise V5 Rolling Ball pen, Extra Fine Tip, Black — The narrower the lines, the better.
3. Sharpie Fine/Ultra Fin Tip, Black – Versatile with 2 tip widths.
4. Ruler – Thin and flexible.  I actually use this fairly often.
5. Bic Matic Grip 0.5mm Mechanical Pencil – I’ve been a fan of mechanical pencils since 5th grade.  This is kind of a cheapie, but works great.
6. Sharpie, Fine Point, Red
7. Sharpie, Fine Point, Blue
8. Highlighter, Green – For highlighting journal articles and other documents.
9. Gel Pen, Red – For redlining documents both at work and at home.
10. Parker Jotter, Medium Tip – The classic.  Stainless steel, smooth ink flow.  One of my favorite non-gel pens.

Inside the Triple Seven CORE Nano Wallet

1. PlusUs LifeCard Powerbank – This little battery doesn’t provide a whole lot of juice, but in a pinch it will (and has) saved me.
2. Micro-fiber cloth – Yes, I know I have another one of these tucked in my GORUCK Mini Wire Dopp (see above).  I don’t need them both, so I’ll eventually get rid of one.
3. Band-Aids (3) – Because I have kids and sometimes they get boo-boos.  Or I do.
4. Lumintop Tool AAA flashlight – Best small EDC flashlight I’ve ever used.  Tough, water-resistant, multiple brightness settings and a “clicky” button.  A great value.
5. Fisher Chrome Bullet Space Pen – Best EDC pen, period.  But I lost my pocket clip and it’s much more useful with a clip.
6. Leatherman Squirt PS4 multitool – Best small EDC multitool, far as I’m concerned.  One of the only ones I could find with both pliers and scissors.  Lots of tools packed into this guy.  Black.  Of course.

As promised above, this is the “On Me At All Times” Items list – Some additional detail on the items that I am either wearing or have in my pocket at all times.  Explanations for each item are above.

Once again, it’s The Gadgeteer’s version of “What’s in your wallet?” or in this case, bag. This year, I’ve decided to reverse my trend of loading up a backpack by slimming down—my bag, at least.

I’ve put away my overly bulky, but wonderful Everki backpack and have moved to the svelte, leather Waterfield Maverick messenger bag (to be reviewed). Because of that, a bunch of stuff had to be put on a shelf, including three pairs of earphones, a trusted battery backup (I switched to a smaller and lighter one), and assorted wires. Do I really need to carry three mini plug AUX wires of different lengths along with countless charging cords? Heck, while digging through the backpack, I came upon an old Apple 30-pin connector—haven’t used it in a couple of years.

After editing, my current messenger bag consists of:

1. Anker and TYLT battery backups: I had—and still use—the iBattz Mojo BattStation Optimus 20400, but it’s a bit much for this bag.
2. Earphones/headphones: Whatever I’m reviewing. Currently, I have the Rock Jaw Resonate earphones with their customizable filters. The Resonate is the new flagship in the Rock Jaw line. I also have the Audeze iSine 10 planar magnetic earphones. They may look like something from a Spiderman movie, but audiophiles around the world are going nuts over these. These are going to be fun reviews.
3. iPad Pro and Apple Pencil: I recently upgraded my iPad Air 2 to a 12.9 in. iPad Pro mainly because I wanted the Apple Pencil. As an art director, I have many friends who are illustrators and EVERY one of them are ga-ga over the Apple Pencil. Now I know why, but man is this thing big! It barely fits into the Maverick bag.
4. Fingernail file: Wishful thinking on my part because I bite my nails.
5. Tums: Don’t ask.
6. Other items: A wallet, company ID badge, various cords and other cra… stuff.

I’ve didn’t include my iPhone 7 Plus in the photo because it’s usually in my pocket. I did have the Maverick bag more loaded while on a NYC business trip, but that was temporary—this is my day-to-day use. As I become more accustomed to the bag, things may come and go to better fit my style.

I use many gadgets on a daily basis, but these gadgets are the ones that I couldn’t live without.  I use them literally every day and they are an important part of my life.  If I lost one of them (which has happened) I would be like a small child who drops their ice cream cone on the pavement.  It’s not pretty, believe me. 

1.  SpotCam HD Eva security camera – The SpotCam is what gives me a piece of mind when I am away from home.  It has motion detection built-in, it allows me to transmit my audio so that people within earshot of the camera can hear me, and I can control it from my phone.  It also records 24-hrs of video in the cloud so I can go back to review the footage.
2. Plantronics Voyager Edge Bluetooth headset – Aside from my cell phone, the Voyager Edge Bluetooth headset is on my person 24 hrs a day.  I talk so much on my phone and need to use my hands at the same time that the idea of holding the phone to my head to talk is painful.  And because of its small size, I have accidentally left it many different places.  It announces in my ear who is calling and I can tell it to answer the call or push to voicemail.  And the portable charge enables me to get a quick charge when I need it.
3. Plantronics Voyager Edge headset charger – The portable charger is good for about 2-3 charges for the Voyager Edge.  It charges using a standard micro-USB cable.
4. Choetech Qi fast wireless charging pad – The Choetech sits beside my bed at home and I use it every night to charge my phone.  I also use it to grab a quick charge when I need to charge my phone up to go out for the evening, and it truly is a quick charge!  I love that it is small and it never gets hot like some of my other wireless charging gadgets.
5. Kenu Airframe+ leather edition – I have tried many cell phone mounts in my car over the years, but I stopped looking once I found the Kenu Airframe.  Easy to use, ultra-portable, and sturdy.  I will never use another mount in my car.
6. Nonda Zus USB car charger and smart car finder – I have gotten to the point in my life that when I go into a store or restaurant, I often forget where I parked when I come out of the store.  Don’t judge.  The Nonda will not only guide you to your car using their smartphone app, it has a parking meter alert, car battery health meter, and built-in dual USB charging ports.  It stays plugged up in my car daily. I don’t use the USB charging ports daily (see #7 below) but I use it to find my car all the time.  Unfortunately.
7. Choetech 15,600 mAh dual USB battery pack – If your car is like mine, your lighter charging port in your car just doesn’t cut it.  I think the last time I tried it, my phone said it was going to take like 4 hours to charge my phone.  So I use the Choetech battery pack daily in my car because it charges my phone just as if it was plugged up to the wall.  I get probably 4 charges for my phone which is great.  It also has 2 USB ports so my wife can charge her phone at the same time.
8. Nexus 7 Android tablet – I am pretty pumped about the new Nexus 7 tablet supposedly coming out this year.  In the meantime, my Nexus 7 tablet that I got back in 2013 will have to suffice.  I use it daily.  I use it to read news and social media posts at night before falling asleep.  It is my alarm clock.  I check the weather first thing in the morning.  It tells me about the traffic in the morning and tells me when I need to leave for my first appointment.  Just like my cellphone, I couldn’t live without my Nexus 7.  But it is showing age, so I can’t wait for the new version to come out.
9. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ – One of the worst names for a cell phone, but a great phone nonetheless!  I love the big screen, the camera is the best one I have ever seen, and it has built-in wireless charging and quick-charge.  The battery isn’t the greatest, and I don’t actually use the curved edges like I thought I would.  But it’s fast and looks beautiful.  I might walk out of the house without shoes on, but I would never go anywhere without my Edge+.
