The Manfrotto Compact Action Aluminum Tripod is ready to go with you everywhere

Every photographer and filmmaker that I know owns several tripods of various sizes and capacities to accommodate as many of the shooting scenarios that we eventually experience. We also spend quite a bit of money on tripods, from smaller amounts on travel tripods or tripods for light work, all the way to thousands for our major production tripods. Sometimes it is very hard to find the perfect travel tripod, because of the difference in weight and size of the combination of cameras we can have with us at any time. In my case, I also may use a tripod to set up an audio recorder or a flash in its own remote area.

One of the tripods that I purchased and use quite often is the Manfrotto Compact Action aluminum Tripod. While this tripod if not made of carbon fiber, it is lightweight enough and adjustable enough that it fits my needs in several types of shoots. It weighs only 2.6 lbs., but it has a load capacity of 3.3 lbs., and I have frequently used it successfully with a bit more weight than that. The legs extend in 5 sections, but I can only push the weight limit when I use it in a much shorter position. It is 17.8 inches folded and 61 inches when fully extended. It has a pistol head grip that works like a joystick, and it includes built-in adjustments for both vertical and horizontal movement and locking, and its own quick release plate.

If you are looking for a compact and lightweight tripod that is durable, you can pick up this Manfrotto tripod at B&H Photo Video or Amazon for $64.88.

Save money doing pedicures at home with Stedi Pedi

Giving yourself a manicure or pedicure at home doesn’t have a lot of tech associated with it, but it certainly does have some gadgets.  In addition to scissors, clippers, files, and other little tools to keep our nails trimmed, some of us like to add polishes to our arsenal.  Going to the salon can be a nice way to pamper yourself and keep your nails looking nice, but it is more expensive than doing it yourself.  Manicures are usually easily done at home, but doing a pedicure can be difficult because it can be hard to find a place and a position to sit where you can see and easily reach your toes as you work.  Enter the Stedi Pedi at-home pedicure assistant!

The Stedi Pedi is a platform that fits under a chair cushion or the edge of a mattress and has an adjustable footrest that puts your foot at the perfect position for you to do your own pedicure at home.  Your bodyweight holds the Stedi Pedi in place, and the platform is designed to support the weight of your leg as you work.  The kit comes with a bright LED task light to help you see what you’re doing.  The base of the Stedi Pedi has space to hold your scissors and clippers or even some nail polish as you work, and a pull-out tray in the front catches any dips or clippings.

If you need a little extra help seeing, there’s a lighted magnifier (3X and 5X)  you can add to the pedicure assistant.  Or you could add a drying fan to help polish dry quicker.  There’s even a battery pack so you can use all three accessories at once.

The Stedi Pedi at-home pedicure assistant is $39.95.  Accessories start at $9.95 each, or you can get an extra task light, lighted magnifier, cooling fan, and the extra battery pack for $34.95.  Stedi Pedi will pay for itself in no time when you save by doing pedicures at home.  Purchase your own pedicure assistant at the Stedi Pedi website.

The Sennheiser HD 280 Pro Circumaural Closed-Back Monitor Headphones are perfect for the studio

Whether I am filming or listening to audio of my footage while editing, or just listening to music, I spend quite a bit of time with headphones on. As I became better at my craft, my need for a better listening experience became much more critical. I began to find the headphones that I was using unacceptable, both regarding audio quality and comfort, and I also did not like that I would have different headphones plugged into various audio components in my studio and get a vastly different listening experience from each one. The perception of audio quality is very subjective, so I had to go to various audio stores and listen to different headphones within several different scenarios, to make a choice for replacements.

Eventually, I settled on the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro Closed Back Monitoring Headphones for my in-studio work and for filming, and I have not been disappointed, The Sennheiser HD 280 headphones are over the ear headphones that fit well and are very comfortable. They fold to a smaller footprint when not in use, and they come with a long-coiled cable that makes them perfect for a studio layout that requires the flexibility of movement. They also come with a ¼ inch TRS connection that screws off to reveal a smaller 3.5mm connection. This type of plug makes them fully adaptable to the types of equipment that are commonly used in my type of Audio/video studio. I like these headphones so much, that I now own four of them, and I have them plugged in strategically so that the same fit and comfort and audio experience, is available wherever and whenever I need it.

You can purchase the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro Headphones at B&H Photo Video or Amazon for $99.95

Verb Caffeinated Energy Bar review

What is it?

Verb Bars are chewy, chocolatey, and enriched with the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee. The caffeine comes from organic green tea, which entails no spike, no crash, and higher levels of focus than caffeine from other sources due to an amino-acid called L-Theanine.

What’s in the box?

For the price of $20, you receive 10 energy bars in a recyclable box. You can purchase in wholesale, at thousands of bars per purchase with a discount if you contact them through professional email and they always offer free shipping through their website: https://www.verbenergybar.com/#!/cart

Design and Features

Verb bars are petite and convenient to carry around for on-the-go energy. Verb Bars have 8 natural, non-GMO, gluten-free, vegan ingredients which are: rolled oats, almond butter, organic puffed brown rice, organic agave nectar, organic unsweetened cocoa powder, vanilla extract, organic brown sugar, and caffeine from organic green tea. Each bar contains 190 calories, 100mg of caffeine, 5g of protein, and 12g of sugar.

What I like

What I like about the bar is that it’s a combination of multiple health benefits into such a simple serving, using a small number of natural ingredients. I especially adore that the box says “recycle me” on it and that the color scheme of the logo matches the earthy vibes that the energy bars have. I also like that you can subscribe to Verb and get boxes delivered to you based on your consumption, and you don’t need to log on and reorder every single time.

What needs to be improved

I think the claim, “as much caffeine as a cup of coffee” needs to be reevaluated… I am not a coffee or soda drinker, so I have almost no tolerance for caffeine and I did not feel a very prominent energy kick from these bars. The flavor was also not what I was expecting… I think adding more flavor options would be beneficial. These bars are also very filling and would be best marketed toward bodybuilders who want the extra calories for bulking up; not people who are trying to remain thin.

Final thoughts

My final thoughts on this product are sincerely optimistic. I personally would not purchase the product again, but I definitely think there is an established foundation here for a very successful company and desired products. The creators behind this product have their minds and hearts aligned in perfect synchronization with the mother nature, and I know they have our Earth’s health, as well as the health of humanity, in mind.

Price: $20.00 for 10 bars
