Skullcandy ups its game with their new Venue noise canceling headphones

NEWS – Skullcandy has always been known for making budget, hip-looking earbuds and headphones that were more about style than sound quality. That is up until now. With their new cans, Venue, Skullcandy has stepped up their game to challenge the big boys.

The Venue noise-canceling headphones have plenty of cool features. Aside from Active Noise Cancellation they also offer 24 hours of battery life with Rapid Charge. Using Rapid Charge allows you to get 5 – hours of listening time from just a 10-minute charge.

Monitor mode allows you to easily turn off the noise cancellation feature so you can clearly hear the outside world.

Venue also has an impressive Bluetooth range that allows you to listen to your content from up to 100 feet away.

But, perhaps the most impressive feature is Find Your Headphones. For this feature, Skullcandy partnered up with Tile to embed tracking exclusively into the Venue headphones. So if you ever lose them, you can just use the Tile app to locate where you last left them.

Aesthetically the headphones have pivoting ear cups, plush memory foam ear cushions, and two color choices, Black or White/Crimson.

All these great features come at a price that’s considerably lower, $179.99, than similar headphones from companies like Bose and Sony. And the Venue headphones still have a little of that Skullcandy style.

For more info or to purchase the Venue headphones visit Skullcandy’s website.

Bedphones for bedheads

There are times when I am in bed and I’d like to lie on my side to listen to music or a podcast, etc. However, my earbuds stick out of my ears and make this uncomfortable. DubsLabs Bedphones are small on-ear headphones designed to allow you to listen to your music while lying on your side.

These headphones have “memory-wire” ear hooks to allow you to bend them around your ears to obtain the correct fit. They also have 23 mm full-range drivers and will last up to 13 hours on one charge.

The Bedphones also come in wired or wireless (Bluetooth) versions. Additionally, there are a couple of Bluetooth versions. One is a sports version, called Versafit, which has a silicone sweatproof covering over the headphones and the other is a sleeping version, called Bedphones, which has a foam padding covering them. The DubsLabs Bluetooth Bedphones are available from DubsLabs for $99.95 while the wired pair is available for $59.95.

Dwayne Johnson gets into the gadget game with the Project Rock Edition wirelesss training headphones

Dwayne Johnson, “The Rock” is best-known for both his infectious personality and insane workout regimen. The latter was the impetus behind a new pair of wireless headphones from Under Armour and JBL, The Project Rock Edition Sport Wireless headphones.

Project Rock is not a brand, it’s a movement. It’s a core belief, that I 100% don’t care what color you are, how old you are, where you come from or what you do for a living. The only thing I care about is you and me, building the belief that regardless of whatever the odds, we can overcome and achieve—but it all starts with the work we’re willing to put in with our two hands.—Dwayne Johnson

One look at these headphones tells you that they mean business. Their rugged looking design features The Rock’s signature Brahma Bull logo on the side of the ear cups.

Rugged aesthetics aside these headphones sport some really nice features.

Made of a light, durable, fast-drying fabric the UA SuperVent ear cushions provide breathability. And are both removable and hand washable. The headband and ear cushions use Under Armour grip material. Under Armour says this will keep the cans in place no matter how intense and sweaty your workouts get.

JBL technology powers the headphones. Including a fast 5-minute speed charging that provides one hour of wireless use. And a Talk-Thru function lowers the music and turns on speech-optimized microphones to let you talk to people between sets.

Other features include Bluetooth 4.1 support, oversized controls, metal hinged folding ear cups, and a breathable hard carrying case.

The Project Rock headphones sell for $249. To smell what the Rock is cooking, head over to UnderArmour.com.

The MusicLens Audio Glasses – sight and sound all in one!

Whenever I am out and about setting up for a photography or videography gig, I love to listen to music and “block” the world out as I focus on the task at hand. I also do the same when traveling by plane or by railroad. As an Audiophile, listening to music under any convenient circumstances gives me both pleasure and relaxation. All of the earbuds or headsets that I currently own allow me to also answer or reject phone calls, and get right back to my music without any significant effort. Now that the summer has just about arrived in NY, my wireless earbuds and my sunglasses are my mandatory accessories. Occasionally, I will forget one of the other at home, and that usually has a negative impact on my day because of loss of function and because of custom.

Today I learned that Kibey Culture has debuted MusicLens Audio Glasses with Built-In Beats. The MusicLens are bone conduction eyeglasses that are stylish, and according to the manufacturer, they produce high-quality sound while also incorporating the function of either eyeglasses or sunglasses. As an all-in-one solution, you can play music, listen to the radio, answer and reject phone calls, and because of the bone conduction technology, there is always safety because it allows you to hear any ambient sounds.

Features include Bluetooth 5.0, Smart Facial Recognition which restricts the features to your face, Smart Touch controls, automatic call answering, and FM radio, all in a design that is ultra light and water and dust resistant. The MusicLens comes in 3 styles, VOGUE or MODERN sunglasses and GEEK eyeglasses, and for the eyeglasses, you can customize your own prescription lens online for only $99. The rechargeable battery life is approximately 9 hours.

If you would like to learn more about the MusicLens Audio Glasses, check out their Kickstarter campaign. You can purchase at the early bird price starting at $69, and expect delivery in August 2018.

Enhance your outdoor activities with new Zungle smart sunglasses

As a glasses wearer, I know that wearing any type of earphone with the glasses can be uncomfortable at best.  Zungle takes care of that problem by incorporating Bluetooth headphones into the frame of their sunglasses themselves.  And they added a dedicated A. I. Voice Assistant button that launches Siri or Google Assistant automatically.  Zungle has new, second versions of both their Viper (square-shaped lenses) and Lynx (rounded-shape lenses) sunglasses available for pre-order now.  Read on for more details about these new sunglasses.

Zungle sunglasses are powered by two 3.7V 120mAh lithium power batteries that charge in less than one hour by Pogo-pin charging.  The batteries provide 4 hours of play time and 100 hours of standby time.  With an IPX4 sweat-resistance rating, you’ll be safely able to wear these smart sunglasses even while you’re working out.

Zungle uses Bluetooth 5.0 (A2DP profile 1.3 / HFP profile 1.7 / HSP profile 1.2) to connect to any smartphone, tablet, or computer with Bluetooth functionality.  The wireless range is 30 feet.  Not only will you be able to listen to music, but you’ll also be able to make and take phone calls, too.

Since using earphones that block ambient sounds can be dangerous in outdoor environments, Zungle protects your awareness of your surroundings with an open-ear solution to allow you to ride a bike or run without sacrificing sound quality or safety.  They use new Vibra speakers with stronger dual-spring bone conduction speakers on each leg.  This new sound system was developed through Zungle’s partnership with a speaker manufacturer that also produces devices for major tech companies like Samsung and Sony.

The dedicated A. I. Voice Assistant button on one leg connects you with Siri or Google Assistant with a single click.

The frames measure 5.6 x 6.3 x 2 inches and weigh 1.8 ounces.  Zungle has designed the Viper (second image) and Lynx (first image) glasses with replaceable front frames.  They’ll be launching a front-frames subscription plan as they design new frames, so you can mix up the appearance of your glasses.

The lenses are UV400 / Polarized and FDA-certified.  Viper glasses are available with a matte black, matte gray, or matte white frame and eight lens colors to select from.  Lynx glasses have matte black or matte gray frames with two lens colors.  Additional replacement lenses can be purchased for $19.99 for either frame.

Right now, Zungle is offering pre-orders for these version 2.0 sunglasses.  The Viper glasses and two extra sets of lenses have a limited-time price of $109.99 for pre-orders, with the price increasing as the pre-order period expires.  Normal price is $189.99 for Viper with no extra lenses.  Lynx glasses start at $139.99 in the limited-time period, with the price increasing through the pre-order period.  Normal price is $189.99 for Lynx.  Zungle says these pre-orders will be among the earliest sent out when the shipments begin in July.  Learn more and pre-order your sunglasses now at the Zungle website.
